What is Factions?
With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.
Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.
Install
- Stop your server.
- Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
- Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
- Start your server again.
- Configure (Optional)
New In Factions 2.8
- Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
- Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
- WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
- Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
- Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
- 1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
- Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
- Performance - Further work on improved performance.
- Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Posted Sep 16, 2013factions config system is a mess, some awesome features is hard to find. especially worldguard region checking.
some permissions node changed, problem arise when a server update the factions version to 2.x.x , please provide a clear documentation.
mcore aspect for factions, where to find it?
maybe im no where near to code these stuff. but with all due respect, pls make something that others can understand clearly.
@prominentc is right, but sometimes, new things are better.. ( maybe dont?)

Everything is different nearly. And the bit thats are similar have had parts changed just enough to stuff the original commands/feel etc
The documentation doesn't even stated what some things are or do.
What was wrong with the 1.6 version? Why not just improve it??

Posted Sep 15, 2013Hey, I am using the newest versions of Factions, MCore, and all parts of Essentials (Chat, Core, Etc) and am using EssentialsChat for faction names. I have it set per group and am using this: [{faction_name}] &7[{GROUP}]&r {DISPLAYNAME}&7:&r {MESSAGE}
When a player joins it just says [{faction_name}] next to their name! How can I fix this:( I know it used to say I need a dev build of essentials on the massive craft site, but now it says it works with the latest essentials. What am I doing wrong?

Posted Sep 15, 2013The creators of factions seriously need to read their comments and take them seriously. Nearly every comment, if not all, are negative comments and that shouldn't be the case. There is a simple fix to this, and it's to go back to the old versions of factions.
Factions was simply a great plugin before this MCore junk. Now that they've added all this extra stuff that is unnecessary, the plugin is complete shit.

Posted Sep 15, 2013I see many are having problems with this new monstrosity. I have not used factions in sometime but decided a week ago to open a PvP factions world. The whole mcore + factions thing does not really bother me because of the fact that I have been long away from factions. What does bother me, however, is the fact that factions keeps causing huge spikes in CPU usage that bring the server to a halt. No errors in console, it takes about 1-4 minutes to respond to save-all and end commands, but works fine after restart. This is a bare server. No players yet, only factions, mcore, worldedit installed.
I hope this is just a minor hiccup and will be corrected in the next build. Though, after reading through the comments here it appears this move to the new configuration with mcore is not popular. To be honest it does seem like a lot of complexity that is merely complex for the sake of being complex.
I realize that this plugin is mostly designed for MassiveCraft and as such they most likely care little for how this change annoys others. I am sure mcore serves as a nice common core for their custom plugins. That said, don't expect them to revert back.
If someone does fork a 1.5.x version that does not included the extra junk I would be interested in using it.

Posted Sep 15, 2013Allright I cannot enable factions on my Hexxit Server. I use MCPC+ and already have WorldGaurd and Worldedit. I have the .jar for mcore and factions in the plugins folder but they both don't create the plugin folders when i restart the server... Any advice? Please!! We are getting behind because of this.

Posted Sep 15, 2013I am currently working to salvage the good aspects of factions and compile it into my own personal plugin. Unless they don't have a problem with a release. I plan on basically just taking the land claiming, tweaking it so that once claimed only the claimers or admins can unclaim the land and no one else can claim over it. I may make another version where the takeover aspect still exists but it will be based on power at the time of the attempted takeover (e.g. if A tries to take over B and at the moment B has 30 power and A has 10 then the attempt will be unsuccessful, however if A has say 40, then the attempt will go through and A will then own the land but at a cost of like 10 power per chunk to prevent an entire faction takeover in an instant unless A is far bigger than B). This will take quite some time as I am rather new to java so if anyone else likes that idea and would like to collaborate on that, shoot me a PM.

What is the permission for that? I really need to know.
I think it is the permission "factions.access.faction" but I'm not sure. Could you help me please?

Posted Sep 14, 2013Why won't this work? It is installed correctly and everything, but it still doesnt show the plugin ingame. it doesnt even say that the plugin is installed, even though I did. I installed it just like all the other plugins, except this one isn't working.

Posted Sep 14, 2013After the 1.6.2 Recommended Build came out, the plugins that were discontinued at 1.5.2 suddenly started working again :) Try the 1.5.2 factions plugin (1.8.2 CB 1.5.2-R0.1CB 1.5.1-R0.2)
