What is Factions?
With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.
Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.
Install
- Stop your server.
- Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
- Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
- Start your server again.
- Configure (Optional)

- Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
- Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
- WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
- Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
- Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
- 1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
- Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
- Performance - Further work on improved performance.
- Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

I just tested using the latest dev build of Spoutcraft (1197), the latest dev build of SpoutPlugin (988), with the latest dev build of CraftBukkit (2083) and Factions 1.6.7, and faction leader capes and colored faction tags over peoples heads worked for me.
I didn't test with CraftBukkit Beta 1.2.3-R0.2 since the latest dev build of SpoutPlugin didn't load on it, as indicated at server startup; it indicated it wasn't build for that CraftBukkit version. Maybe that's your problem? Check your server startup log.

Can you paste your server startup log with all loading information (from the very start until after Factions finishes loading)? Also, have you checked the logs for any error that might be occurring when they're having problems?
Needless to say, I'm unable to duplicate your problem on 1.6.7 and CB 1.2.3-R0.2.

Posted Mar 16, 2012Hey there got a pretty big issue I am unable to fix. I will try to explain this as best I can. So have been having issues where players complaining about people being in godmode all the damn time. So I been looking into the problem. I broke server down plugin by plugin this one being the 16th I removed and the problem went away. I then added all plugins back except Factions and the problem was still gone. I added it and the problem came back. I removed all plugins then except Factions and the problem was there so narrowed ti down to factions by itself not conflicting with any other plugins I am using. When someone kills another player and respawns that player for some reason is not really in the game or something. They are unable to interact with players they can't hit them. Other players can't see the player who died if they are standing still. An example is this Player1 Kills Player2 and is standing there sorting through the loot. Player2 goes f hoem to see Player1 standing there he cannot hit him he can see him but can't hit him. Player1 while standing still is unable to see Player2 runnign around trying to kill him as if Player2 isn't even there. Player2 is getting pissed because he thinks Player1 has god mode on. Player2 is crying about Player1 killing him without any armor on did I mention after you die the players you see their armor disappears from their skin. So Being the caring admin I am i come tp to Player1 and hit him he takes damage and runs 5 blocks away all a sudden he can see Player2 again and Player2 is now able to go hit Player1 again. Sorry for all this but I wanted to be thorough. Bottom line if you die you have to log out and back in or for some reason you can't hit some people even if the person didn't kill you you can't hurt other people sometimes. Updated to newest version of factions hasn't changed anything.

No configuration should be necessary, and I've tested it in 1.6.7 on CB 1.2.3-R0.2 with damage between enemies working in the territory of either.
What message do they get hen trying to attack each other? Is there any error logged? What version of Factions and what version of CraftBukkit are you using (check the actual version numbers in your server startup log, don't just say "latest version" please)?

Posted Mar 15, 2012I have two factions on my server and they have both declared each other enemies. But they can't attack each other in their claimed areas. Do I have to make a warzone? Or is there a configuration command that allows for them to attack eachother

The ability to translate is on my to-do list, but due to it requiring a complete overhaul of pretty much every file, it will need to wait until the 1.7 branch is ready to fully replace the 1.6 branch. There's no way I'm doing that huge overhaul on two codebases.

I understood, and as I said, it would add considerable overhead to explosion handling. For each explosion it would need to check a list of all online players, find any in the target faction, and then check the locations of each until it finds one which is in their own territory. In 1.7 I think it would actually need to do that for every block destroyed in the explosion, barring a complicated rewrite of how that's handled.

I wrote it confusingly, I meant like you are being in your faction territory and if someone shoots a tnt in your territory it will blow up but if they would shoot it when you would be outside your territory then it wouldn't blow up. If you won't include this feature than i will have to ask someone to make a plugin because it's a really needed feature for my server. :) P.S Thanks for great updates.

As with every other setting, you are advised to use /f config to modify it. Example:
/f config playersWhoBypassAllProtection fakePluginPlayerName - add/remove the specified player name
New conf.json settings:
"logPlayerCommands": true,can be disabled to prevent player commands from being logged."radiusClaimFailureLimit": 9,when someone is attempting a radius claim, it will halt if this many claim attempts in a row are unsuccessful."playersWhoBypassAllProtection": [],list of player names that should always bypass normal faction protections such as block destruction and placement. Primarily for use with other plugins/mods which use a fake player to take actions.-

I doubt HomeSpawnPlus is actually causing any problems with faction homes. Maybe those faction homes were in worlds which are not yet loaded at server startup? If so, such home locations are lost since Bukkit Locations require a loaded world reference. Our next release should take care of that annoyance, though.
As for coordinates of faction territory, you might have trouble beyond just using /f map. If you were dedicated enough you could get their faction ID (by checking in factions.json) and look for a coordinate in board.json which is set to that faction ID. If you found such a coordinate, you could then translate it to standard world coordinates by multiplying each number by 16. They're stored in board.json as "X,Z": "factionID".

Factions only interfaces with SuperPerms, but PermissionsEx should be doing so as well. Read our FAQ above regarding removing permissions.

You can't directly set power levels for a player, sorry, you can only provide a boost/penalty (via /f powerboost).
