What is Factions?

With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.

Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.

Install

Stop your server.
Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
Start your server again.
Configure (Optional)

New In Factions 2.8

Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
Performance - Further work on improved performance.
Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Trapped chests are protected in the new 1.6.9.5 and 1.8.2 releases, actually, along with hoppers and droppers.

Who is Olof? Where can I find him? Apparently /f chat isn't working either... Idk if it is just me or if herochat integration might be broken.

Then you must use a chatmanager with multiworld support. Factions replaces [Faction] with the name of the player's faction.

Can there be some way to disable the Faction Tag in a certain world? I only want it to come into the survival world, I have disabled faction pvp in worlds but can that be in a possible update in the conf.json?

<3 finally an update!

I have a slight problem :(

In chat the tag prefix won't change from [FACTION] whether i'm in a faction or not. I've tried changing the chat tag, but get no changes.

Running factions 1.8.2

EssentialsChat format: '&a{FACTION}&r {DISPLAYNAME}&f:&r {MESSAGE}'

Information on the 2.0 developement procces:

1) Factions drops the native spoutplugin support for all spoutcraft features including faction capes . A seperate plugin should be created for this matter.

2) Trapped chests have been added to the container materials for the 2.0 branch (but not for 1.69 nor 1.8)

3) Worldguard hook has been droped. A seperate plugin should add in these missing features, not the main plugin. Feel free to create such a plugin if you need it.

4)Proper Universe support has been added (see the plugin mcore for this). Factions does also depend on mcore to run.

Thank you for the previous answer. How exactly does the herochat integration work? Also, will the files from version 1.6.9 transfer to the next one without problem? And, will version 1.6.9 be updated to support new minecraft versions as they come along? And what was it that made you decide to remove factions chat?

If you run f perm from server console with no other arguments on version 1.8.0 or older you will get no feedback at all. You need to specify a faction (ex. f perm wilderness) to get anything out of it.

This is fixed in 1.8.2; running f perm or f flag from server console with nothing specified will tell you how to use them in that case.

When I put factions into my server the /f perm command doesnt exist? I've gone through the config etc looking for it, but to no avail. I tried adding the factions.perm node to the permissions, but nothing changes? Some help with this would be HIGHLY appreciated!

Why is the version on on here 1.8.0, when github indicates that the most recent version is 1.8.2? Edit: Started reading up on comments. Never-mind. :p

No factions chat built into the core plugin, no. See my post below for alternatives. You don't need to transfer anything, your data will be migrated/updated automatically. You will not be able to downgrade afterwards though.
