You need to post the actual errors with the full stacktrace. Without that info, there's no telling what's happening.

Posted Jan 7, 2013I am having an issue replicating the previous ability to allow building within SafeZones, I thought I found a workaround with faction.access.safezone, but unfortunately that didn't seem to apply and allow users to build in their WorldGuard regions within the city, unfortunately. I could disable PVP in the city with WorldGuard, but Factions SafeZone makes it more obvious what it is, without saying the words "Wilderness" whenever someone enters it, which is somewhat deceiving.
This better explains what I want to be able to do, https://github.com/MassiveCraft/Factions/pull/169 The reason being: SafeZone is obvious to new users of what it is, and there are areas in the SafeZone that some people can rent and build in without being able to attack one another. Safety and ability to break blocks should have little relation, and the old 1.6 ability to allow building in SafeZone worked great for us. Is there any update on the status of this, or what you may have decided as a workaround to allow this? From what I can tell, 'check for worldguard' doesn't seem to allow them building access.
Kind regards,
edit: also, factions that have been given the flag "peaceful" seem to still be loosing power, are my eyes deceiving me?

You my friend, are a Hero(chat)!
It's a shame the developers of this plugin don't make that so public, because there is a considerable chunk of the admin community who haven't quite figured this out for themselves, a few searches on google make that apparent.
@Brettflan, I suggest making it public that it can be fixed, as all that is visible if one hunts through the community is "It's Olaf's creation.. i have no idea" which doesn't help anyone, and looks unprofessional on your behalf, but Factions is a fantastic plugin.
Kind regards,

I've recently fought with that problem myself. For some reason HeroChat doesn't let Factions identify the {factions_tag} and {factions_relcolor} strings when they're in HeroChat's config file. Instead of adding the tags to the {default} format you need to add them to each individual channel's format.
So you would open up the Global channel, for example, and change the format to this:
format: {factions_relcolor}{factions_roleprefix}{faction_tag_pr}{default}
also, you need to be using HeroChat version 5.6.2 which isn't available on their page for some reason, but the link for it is here:
https://github.com/MassiveCraft/Factions/raw/master/lib/Herochat.jar
Hope this helps you out! :)
EDIT: I noticed you said you've already downloaded HeroChat 5.6.2, so ignore that last bit :-P

Posted Jan 7, 2013Sure you're used to this question, but can I get a confirmation on if it's just a broken build of Factions (the 1.8 recommended version) that is preventing Factions and Herochat from hooking together in terms of displaying tags like{faction_relcolor}{faction_roleprefix}?
EDIT: thanks to this build: https://github.com/MassiveCraft/Factions/raw/master/lib/Herochat.jar, i've been able to hook up /ch f and /ch a, but the tags aren't displaying properly, such as: {faction_relcolor}{faction_roleprefix}. Any reason why these do not work, version mismatch perhaps?
Kind regards,

I'm not sure about disabling "everything", but you can disable (per world): Power loss on death Land claiming No PvP for members and allies. Wilderness Protection
The only thing I'm not sure how to disable per-world is the faction name in chat.
So let's say you want to disable these functions for a world named "Spleef". You would type (replacing "Spleef" with your world name):
"/f config worldsNoPowerLoss Spleef" "/f config worldsNoClaiming Spleef" "/f config worldsIgnorePvP Spleef" "/f config worldsNoWildernessProtection"
So now, in the world Spleef, players in the same faction can PvP, when you die you don't lose power, and the /f claim command doesn't work. I haven't used Wilderness Protection so idk what that does.
EDIT: Re-reading you comment you want to disable the faction tag in each world. There may be a chat plugin where you can set a chat config for each individual world, but I haven't found one yet.

Posted Jan 7, 2013Hello.
I use this plugin on my server (with multiworld), and I was wondering if there is a way to disable it in some of my worlds...?
And I don't mean disable parts; but the whole thing...?
If not, is there a way I can remove the faction tag and name in some worlds...?
Thanks.

I've managed to fix my chat after many painful hours testing different scenarios. I came onto your server to let you know but you weren't there :-P
However, I looked at your plugin list and noticed your chat plugin is ChatManager, which I don't believe is supported by Factions at the moment. HeroChat (a very similar plugin) is supported though.
https://github.com/MassiveCraft/Factions/raw/master/lib/Herochat.jar
HeroChat is more complicated than ChatManager but you can do so much more with it, like set up chat channels for different worlds or a server-wide Broadcast system or an Admin Chat system where Admins can chat privately.
I happen to use PEX as well, so I could give you a hand setting it up if you wanted me to. I've only recently finished setting up all the permissions and different channels so it's fresh in my mind :-P , just let me know!

Posted Jan 6, 2013@bob, thanks! I wound up just making it cost 99999999999 to enemy a faction, also stopping damage of enemies and making raiding more difficult.

Posted Jan 6, 2013Hello, I run a server with factions, and people want raiding and faction takeovers to be a lot more difficult. Is there a setting I could change that would disallow faction members to take pvp damage from everyone, even enemies, within their borders? Thanks.

Posted Jan 6, 2013Getting error on startup. Additional facts: - This is happening on both craftbukkit beta builds 1.4.6-R0.1 and R0.3. - This is happening on both the 1.8.0 versions and the 1.6.9.4 versions (Did changing versions screw it up?) - Although the plugin doesnt load, other plugins (like Lockette) recognize it as being enabled (may be intentional or a bug - I'm not a programmer).

Posted Jan 6, 2013Ok, I am actually at my wits end with this...
No matter what I do, I can't get Factions and any chat plugin that I try to use to display chat messages properly. Without Factions installed they work fine, and are displayed as such:
"mmulqueen10: test message"
However, when Factions is installed, this happens:
"<FactionName mmulqueen10> test message"
At first I thought that this was happening because HeroChat is heavily outdated (the last update was back in March I believe) so I switched my chat plugin to ChatManager. Plugin runs fine until I install Factions, then the server just seems to start ignoring the message format I've specified with ChatManager and start doing what it wants.
I want the message to look like this:
"[FactionName] mmulqueen10: test message"
I've read every single guide going and have absolutely no idea what to do. Disabling "ChatTagRelationColored" in the config file sent the chat format back to how I'd specified in ChatManager's config, but the Faction String wasn't being replaced with the faction name, just showing up in the chat message like this:
"[FACTION] mmulqueen10: test message"
If ANYONE can give me an example of how to get my chat to work properly with this plugin I'd really appreciate it! I'm running 1.6.9 and have heard/seen Factions working correctly with chat that has a custom format, so I know it's possible...
EDIT: Now using 1.8.0, same problem.
EDIT 2: Managed to fix it by myself.

Last I checked it does exactly as intended, destroying potentially 1 block in each of the 6 directions (N/S/E/W/U/D) from the centerpoint of a TNT explosion which happens in water. Is that not what is happening? In regards to the chest, are you using a plugin which protects chests or something?
