What is Factions?
With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.
Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.
Install
- Stop your server.
- Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
- Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
- Start your server again.
- Configure (Optional)

- Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
- Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
- WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
- Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
- Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
- 1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
- Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
- Performance - Further work on improved performance.
- Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Posted Aug 17, 2012Little issue I couldnt find a fix for: When I try to block commands with worldguard, they obviously dont disable the use of the commands without / (so instead of /f home just f home). Anyway I can remove the ability to let the users use it without the slash?

Posted Aug 17, 2012Is it possible to have peaceful factions be able to pvp outside warzone? Will it be possible in the future?
I ask because I'd like a semi-peaceful server, in which bases are completely protected (so they should be in peaceful) but in the wilderness everyone can pvp. And who wants can choose not to be peaceful and grief other not peaceful players.

Posted Aug 17, 2012Ok so I upgraded to 1.7.6 today. It seems to work fine except for one thing that utterly confuses me. What tag should I put in my herochat so that the factions get displayed? I tried everything but nothing works. Can someone please point out what part of config I have to replace so it works with herochat? Now it only seems to work with Faction's own parser.

Posted Aug 16, 2012A quick heads up / notice and reminder.
First, the reminder: I'm only working on maintenance and bugfixes for the plugin at this point. The original author Olof (Cayorion) is still actively developing it as he has time, though I think he has little time at the moment.
As for the notice: I'm going in for gallbladder removal surgery tomorrow, so at a bare minimum I will not be working on anything for at least a week.
I'm hoping many of the chat plugin compatibility problems will have worked themselves out by the chat plugins updating to the new async chat event system in CB 1.3.1. That's the source of most peoples' recent chat problems posted here.
Herochat integration for Factions 1.7.x might need to be updated on our end, I'm not sure. EssentialsChat integration was fixed by the Factions 1.6.9 stable and 1.7.6 beta releases, assuming you've correctly updated Essentials to the latest version as well. Pretty much all other chat plugin related problems are due them either being outdated (as per the async chat change) or having changed something else on their end.
As I've said at least a couple of times, the only things chat-related on our end that have changed are the switch from using old chat events to the new async chat events and the EssentialsChat integration being updated for their corresponding switch to async chat event handling.
In 1.7.6 I believe there are issues where factionless players are being treated as if they're in a faction in regards to damage reduction and friendly fire prevention, I'll be looking into that when I have time after I recover from the surgery.

Posted Aug 16, 2012I can confirm that Factions breaks any chat plugin. I tried this with:
1. A fresh faction config 2. The latest stable factions plugin 3. Only Herochat and Factions installed 4. Lastest version of Herochat 5. Latest version of vault
Please fix this as soon as possible. Thanks

Posted Aug 16, 2012A problem just came on this night. I dont know if other people got the same problem. When you die every is spawned in the wrong world. Name of the world is test1 and the main world is Main and we got a PVP world.
So is there a fix? We had to turn off the faction plugin :S And allot of our member are complaining that they want it back.

Posted Aug 16, 2012I installed Factions but now my chat setup (HeroChat, PermissionsEX) doesn't work anymore, the prefixes wont show up and also the prefix for chatrooms (HC) doesn't work. How can I fix this?
I want the chat being this:
[G] [F] [Rank] NAME:
where [G] = HeroChat, [F] = Faction and [Rank] = PermissionsEX prefix
