EternalWolf
Creepers, lava, heights - all are deadly to wolves. Until science breeds a supernatural wolf that can fly and shoot lasers out of its eyes, this plugin does the next best thing - make them invincible!
Features
- Makes tamed wolves invulnerable to all kinds of damage
- Restricts the number of wolves each player may own (default 5 per world) to help with game balance
- Release your wolves back into the wild by left-clicking on them while holding a bone
- Find out who owns a wolf by right-clicking it while holding a bone
- Call your wolves to you with the /call-wolves command
- Bukkit permissions support

Configuration
- You can restrict the number of wolves each player is allowed to tame per world by setting the max_wolves option within config.yml. By default, each player is allowed a maximum of 5 wolves per world.
- You can remove the restriction altogether by setting max_wolves to -1, although this is not recommended.
Permissions
EternalWolf uses the official Bukkit permissions system. Any permissions plugin compatible with Bukkit permissions will be compatible with this plugin.
The following permission nodes are available. The default permissions are shown in brackets.
- eternalwolf.invincible_wolves (everybody) - Makes the player's wolves invincible when they are logged in (all tamed wolves are invincible if their owner is offline)
- eternalwolf.call_wolves (everybody) - Allows the player to use the /call-wolves command
- eternalwolf.release_own_wolves (everybody) - Allows the player to release their own wolves
- eternalwolf.release_other_wolves (ops only) - Allows the player to release any other player's wolves
- eternalwolf.check_owner (everybody) - Allows the user to check who owns a wolf
- eternalwolf.many_wolves (ops only) - Allows the user to tame as many wolves as they like (bypassing the max_wolves option)

Posted Feb 2, 2026Works on version 1.21.11. I would like this to have more features and options to enable and disable what you want your wolves to be able to take damage like from mobs and players.

Not sure, it seems to be working for me. Which version of Craftbukkit are you using, and do any errors appear in the console?

You know.Im using your plugin 0.4. I was using it to protect my wolves. Now im running a PVP and an rpg server. Is there a way to add a feature like if i turn rpg mode on then i can call my wolves too, but the enemy can kill them, and if they die they would respawn too, and i could give the maximum numbers of the dogs, and if factions available whos in the same faction with me cant hurt my dogs? I know its a lot but it would be awesome.

Thanks a ton for even looking into it, these wolves just tend to hold a grudge! They attack players but players have no means of defending themselves! XD

I have no idea how I'd implement that. I'll see what I can do, but I can't promise anything.

Yes, I'll be adding protection for cats (and possibly other entities too) in the future. But I have coursework to finish and finals coming up in just over a week, so don't expect an update until after that :P

Posted May 13, 2012It would be great if you could make the same plugin but for Ocelots, EternalOcelot/Kitty? I'm a cat person and it sucks that people can come in and kill my cat or it dies from being stupid enough to stand in fire. It means I can't take my cat with me anywhere and hope nobody comes around to kill it.

Posted Apr 12, 2012Could you perhaps add a feature that disallows tamed wolves from attacking either specifically players or should that be impossible, anything at all? It gets annoying when a player is mistakenly hit and the wolf... holds a grudge forever! Considering the wolf can never die... It can become an issue.

Posted Apr 12, 2012Also here to plead for ocelots/cats! =)
(and irongolems, snowgolems, and villagers, if at all possible. Hilarious conga lines ensue.)
