Important information on this project in light of recent events.

If EchoPet is not loading on your Spigot 1.8 build and your server is outputting "Skipping loading of EchoPet as it does not work with Spigot 1.8 builds!", please try running a later Spigot patch. I can't do anything about older Spigot releases blacklisting the plugin (preventing it from loading).

The future of this plugin is still being determined.

Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk.

EchoPet is a simple Donator Perk plugin designed to add Pets that follow players around on their adventures throughout Minecraft. All Pets are custom entities spawned and controlled by the plugin.

EchoPet comes with an auto-updater to save you, as a server owner, from continually checking this page for new files. It simply connects to dev.bukkit.org and compares the versions of available files. If you do not wish for EchoPet to perform this check, navigate to the Configuration File (config.yml) in the EchoPet directory of your plugins folder and change "checkForUpdates" and "autoUpdate" to "false". The first value disables the version comparison altogether and the second updates the plugin automatically if new files are detected.


Metrics is used to collect plugin statistics. Only data such as plugin version and players online is collected. If you do not wish for this data to be collected, disable it in the 'Plugin Metrics' folder of your 'plugins' directory.

By saying "isn't being actively maintained" are we to assume that there will be no further updates to the plugin, including support for human pets with 1.8 and 1.8 animals/mobs??

Posted Feb 25, 2015Any plans to add the 1.8 mobs (guardians and bunnies) to the supported pets list?
Also, a small but annoying bug, pet names lose their colour on teleport.

Posted Feb 17, 2015Thanks for the great plugin. Can I ask for a some advice in solving a small issue that has recently come to our attention due to the recent name change feature. We decided not to give our players the permissions to change their pets names to avoid offensive language in names.
The config by default will name the pets "defaultName: (userApos) Pet" and this has been working well, but since players can now change their Minecraft names their pets remain the original name. Do you have an suggestion for the best way to update the database, perhaps which event to use in the API?

Posted Feb 7, 2015Hello. I recently installed this plugin on my server using PEX on the Spigot 1.8 build. I have given my lowest donator rank the following permissions from the pet command. echopet.pet.type.(chicken, cow, horse, mooshroom, ocelot, pig, sheep, squid, wolf), echopet.pet.select, echopet.pet.default.remove, echopet.pet.default.pet.set.current, echopet.pet.name, echopet.pet.call, echopet.pet.hide, echopet.pet.show, echopet.pet.menu, echopet.pet.info, echopet.pet.list, echopet.pet.remove, and echopet.pet
My second donator rank is supposed to have access to the /pet hat command, and that is exclusive to them and higher. However, the first donator rank can still use /pet hat even though I haven't given them the permission. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you very much!
(Also, I am having the same problem as the user below me, and the human pet is not compatible.)
In addition, I've been customizing the pet menu, and I changed the slot amount from 45 to 54, however I cannot use the last row. In terms of my style of organization, it would be much easier if we could use that last row. Is there another place I can edit that to allow this? Thanks!

Posted Jan 25, 2015Why this plugin has so huge memory leaks?
In my network (almost 700 players online) with echo pet i got 10 bg of ram usage after 10 hrs.... Without echopet its like 2 gb... Player listener causes huge tps lost while plugin try to save / load players pets... This is huge mistake, please can you fix this? I can post timings if you want, im pretty sure people are deleting this plugin on big servers becouse of this memory leak... I do not recommend this plugin if you have more than 200 players online.
