DragonTravel
It offers server-admins the possibility to add a new outstanding way of travel to their servers.
More videos on DragonTravel (including tutorials)
Features:
- Allows admins to set destinations for the dragons.
- Allows players with the specific permission to summon and mount a dragon and...
...fly flights which consists out of waypoints(as many as you like)
...fly to destinations which have been set by an admin before.
...fly to coordinates chosen via command.
...fly to players choosen via command(different permission-nodes for other types of travel).
...fly to your faction's home-position (Factions required)
...fly to your town's spawn (Towny required)
...fly to a home-position which has been set by this player earlier. - Allows admins to set stations and limit the mounting of dragons to these locations (or a specified radius around it).
- Possibility to require a special item for players to use the plugin (e.g. a dragon-egg)
- Making signs which automatically mount a player and bring them to the written destination on the sign.
- Permissions-Support
- Support of all Economy-Plugins supported by Vault (Vault is required for that)!
Admins can set different prices for all ways of travel! - Admins can choose in the config whether dragons of this plugin should destroy blocks or if any dragons should break blocks when touching.
- All messages are fully customizable! Default messages.yml is English, but we provide German and French language files as well.
Due to the fact that things can change rapidly in this project, I stopped maintaining instructions on the plugin and other information like a list of commands/permissions in the forums, on this page etc. and decided to create a central location where you can always find all information up-to-date: The DragonTravel-Wiki.
Please use this wiki and report all mistakes you find in there and avoid posting questions on topics like commands/permissions/sign-creation etc., which are answered in the wiki, in the comments.
The questions and requests posted in the comments are repeating and there are some questions we answer at least once per week, so we decided to write down some of those Frequently Asked Questions.
Please read the questions below and see if you can find your question there, this really saves us time we can then spend on the development of DragonTravel.
- Is it possible to change the speed the dragon's wings are flapping?
- Is it possible to remove the dragon's health-bar?
- Is it possible to control the dragon manually?
- Is it possible to move the rider closer to the dragon to avoid him flying above it?
- DragonTravel does not start, what can be the problem?
You can find the answers to those questions in the FAQ!
Please read the paragraph above before posting any questions!

in game /dt mount produces nothing - do I have to create a dragon? (creative mode)
/dt dismount replys you are not mounted (as I suspected it might!)
tried /summon 122 got unable to summon object (same with /summon cow)

Depending on how many players you have on your server, you could also use the ops.txt. Operators automatically have all permissions needed for DragonTravel.
I'm only online on my mobile phone, so I cannot create an example permissions.yml at the moment.

Posted Jun 30, 2014...at the moment when I type /dt mount I get the help blurb for /dt
...so I guess I need permissions.yml to allow the /dt commands

I understand I'll have to change the user-name (I think LOL)
again thanks a million, your plugin seems to be #1 with the minecraft crowd :)

Thank you, I really enjoy doing the work as long as there are admins using the plugin.
Positive feedback always motivates me to continue the work. :)
I guess I will implement a clear message telling the problem about Java 6 on startup, so others won't have to search for the problem.

Posted Jun 30, 2014Yep Java 7 fixed problem
I originally uninstalled 6 and installed 7 using "Ubuntu Software Centre" but in terminal typing...
file /etc/alternatives/java /etc/alternatives/javac
gave me...
/etc/alternatives/java: symbolic link to `/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386/jre/bin/java'
so I removed using terminal (Ubuntu really have dropped the ball as of late)
sudo apt-get remove openjdk-6-\* icedtea-6-\*
re-ran server ...no more errors :)
Happy days, again thanks for the reply, I know you do this for free, so as far as I'm concerned you are a superhero :)

Yeah, this error normally occurs when using a file compiled for Java 7 on Java 6, but I thought I had removed all Java 7-specified parts of the code (and started compiling for Java 6 again) some time ago because there were too many users reporting this problem because many server hosters still run Java 6 on their game servers.
I'm not able to test this until next week Sunday, so please tell me if using Java 7 fixes this error. :)

Im running the DragonTravel jar I downloaded yesterday
(from link top-righ this page, here's its URL... http://dev.bukkit.org/media/files/793/275/DragonTravel.jar)
Error was from Java 6 on Ubuntu. I'm going to try Java 7 on Ubuntu. (unless you can recommend some other approach?)
Again many thanks for the reply Phiwa :)

Could you try to send me a list of flights this problem occurs on?
Best would be if you send me your flights.yml (to mail(at)phiwa(dot)eu) and include a list of the flights ot working including the exact coordinates the problem occurs on in the mail. :)
I'll then try to find the problem, but it might take a month because I have a bunch of exams during the next four weeks.
Concerning the flight editor: You can easily modify the database by hand if you are careful not to destroy the file structure. Just take a note to remember the position of the waypoint you want to remove and delete its line in the database. :)

Posted Jun 28, 2014Sometimes, the dragons get stuck. There doesn't seem to be a reason, but on certain flights, the dragon will just get stuck in one place, not completing the flight. It seems to be for certain waypoints. Could you make a way to remove the nearest waypoint, not the last one you placed?

First of all, thanks for your positive feedback!
I love hearing of satisfied admins and users because that is why I enjoy spending me free time on a project like DragonTravel. :)
I waited for the negative point throughout your whole text, but couldn't find one. Did I miss something? :P
If I got that right, the messages are working for you with travels and flights, is that correct?
Do you have any idea for an improvement/a new feature from your point of view? :)

Posted Jun 22, 2014Hi installed and running on our server . np with welcome and exit messages appearing on entry or exit from regions. this is for both travel and flight mode .. the members love this novel way of traveling from point to point. and i have set up a welcome flight for newcomers to the server. that goes down really well :) .. love your work ... now to get them to work between muti-worlds i get the dragon to goto a way station, then they take a portal to the other world and carry on the travel with a new dragon. thats works for now .... as i said love your work keep it going :) thanks
Running on bukkit 1.7.9 ro3

Hmm, but I cannot think of any part of DragonTravel which could only suppress messages, we do not have anything to do with chat events.
The chat messages occur for players walking, so there cannot be another source of the problem than DragonTravel?
Do the messages show up while a player is on a travel (you just mentioned it not working for flights)?

The region sees that they enter because if I use worldguard region commands it will run a command when they enter (while on a flight) .. for some reason it just does not show the welcome and farewell messages.

Could you try to hold 'W' while flying and see if that bring the messages? :)
The problem is that the player is not recognized as "moving" while being moved by DragonTravel because we 'teleport' the player.
If you file a ticket, I can take a look at it. :)

Posted Jun 16, 2014I am having a problem where the welcome messages of regions are being blocked when on a flight.
I am trying to set it up so that when in a flight the greetings will tell them about where they are.

Should normally be included in every travel permission, so if a player is allowed to travel to the station "spawn" (permissions: "dt.travel.spawn"), he can travel there from every location, I think.
Has been quite a while since I last worked on that part of DragonTravel, that's why I'm not sure, but should be like that. :)
