DisguiseCraft
Tired of backwards EnderDragons? Upward looking chickens? Or some of the other bugs in MobDisguise? Ready to try something brand new? With DisguiseCraft we are taking a brand new approach on mob/player disguises by taking advantage of the advanced features released in the 1.1-R4 build of CraftBukkit!
Features:
- Disguise as any mob
- This includes: babies, colored sheep, sized slimes/magmacubes, tamed/aggressive wolves with colored collars, tabby/tuxedo/siamese cats, saddled pigs, villager occupations, and charged creepers
- Also unnatural slime/magmacube sizes: bigger, massive, godzilla
- You can also set the disguise on fire and hold blocks as an Enderman
- This includes: babies, colored sheep, sized slimes/magmacubes, tamed/aggressive wolves with colored collars, tabby/tuxedo/siamese cats, saddled pigs, villager occupations, and charged creepers
- Disguise as any player, including their skin, cape, and in-chat name
- The item you are holding and arm swings are shown
- Disguise as certain objects
- This includes the vehicles: boat, minecart, poweredminecart, storageminecart
- And the blocks: endercrystal, fallingblock (different materials)
- No Spout necessary! Disguised players' names are not shown in SpoutCraft (This is because the disguised player's packets are not sent to other clients)
- No Backwards EnderDragon! No messed up chicken head!
- Permissions support (All popular permissions systems)
- Multi-world permissions are supported
- Granular player-disguise nodes
- The player list doesn't show players who are disguised in your world
- The ability to see through disguises is given with a permission node (disguisecraft.seer)
- Disguises can fool mobs too! (disguisecraft.notarget & disguisecraft.notarget.strict)
- Item-pickup can be disabled while wearing a disguise
- You can disguise or undisguise other players
- You can keep your disguise even after log out (Activate in the config)
- Utilizes the Plugin Metrics service
- All of the commands have tab completion
- Developer API to allow for plugin integration

How to negate the disguisecraft.seer node with PermissionsEx
Or, how to make it so that you don't see the nametag of the person inside of the disguise!
- Open up your permissions.yml file
- Add the permission node "-disguisecraft.seer" to the group that is seeing the double disguises!
- Do /pex reload ingame.
Example pex file:
admin: options: rank: '1' permissions: - -disguisecraft.seer - '*'

Posted Oct 16, 2013Hi,
I got a small problem, and do not understand why. Players cant do baby horse, although they can do every other mob and their baby.
All other horses do work, like mule, undead, etc. I gave them both perms: disguisecraft.mob.horse.type.* disguisecraft.mob.*
Admins/ops can do /dis baby horse

We've tried it. In first-person view, you can't see outside of the disguise you're in.
@Mineox @DevRosemberg
Unfortunately, our API doesn't directly support it yet, due to the seer system still using nametags. What you can try, however, is to set the "metadata" variable in the Disguise instance you construct to a DataWatcher returned by the "mobNameData(String)" function. So long as nobody on the server has "disguisecraft.seer", the nametags should show up.
I'll try my best to get the API changed for you guys soon.

Posted Oct 15, 2013I have an idea that would let you see your disguise clientside.
I'm not really sure how exactly this plugin works, but I assume you make players see a mob and sync that mobs movement with the disguised player via packets. Maybe you could give an invisibility potion to the disguising player, and then send the same mob packets to them. I know they would still see the item in their hand, but It would be pretty nice to see your own disguise. I haven't really worked with packets, so sorry if I'm missing something.

The hardware looking a bit "Odd" is probably due to the fact that it is a VPS, and not a true "dedicated" machine. I decided to work with a blank VPS instead of the template MC Hosting companies because I wanted the ability of full control. Essentially they give me a Linux box and say have fun. I looked into the Bungee, but I can only justify spending the 100 bucks a month or so on one server and I just can't bring myself to set any more up.
I'm going to look into the other permission plugins you mentioned, and those other options. And for the love of all, please don't worry about any of this stuff until after you've got your school stuff done. I'm a father myself and I'll beat my daughter senseless if, when she's in college, I find out she is messing around with video games instead of her coursework. I haven't used IRC in almost 20 years, but I might come visit you in the near future. lol. Take care and thanks for the input. :-)

You've definitely got powerful server hardware. Now you do seem to be running with less cores at a higher clock rate than most servers I've seen. That will serve you well as Minecraft is currently single-threaded (with few necessary exceptions).
I don't spot any red-lights in terms of plugins, but I can make a few suggestions for performance/efficiency.
-Experiment with DisguiseCraft's multi-threaded movement updating option in the configuration.
-Consider testing out Spigot. It has some great efficiency improvements and safety features.
-bPermissions and PermissionsEx are the most popular permissions plugins at the moment. However, PermissionsEx has a history of breaking/not correctly implementing the Bukkit permissions system. (mbaxter has great research of this) -Some arena/games plugins are necessarily CPU hungry. If possible utilize something like BungeeCord to offload these to other server computers.
Also, if you need any other help or suggestions while setting up your server. You can drop by our IRC at irc://irc.mibbit.com/pinoygamers or just send me a PM here.
I'll try my best to help you out.
As for the plugin to prevent "/fly", I'm not sure if I'd be able to do it myself between my college and work schedule, but we'll see how it goes.

And this is why I probably spent WAY more hours putting my server together than most other people... I searched everywhere for the pro's and con's of each plugin I'm using and just decided to start using whichever ones got the most updates (Because of so much conflicting information). :-) I'll be honest, I'm a noob at this server thing, I love it, it's a challenge and it's quite fun, but now that I've spent more than easily 300 hours setting things up and configuring I am learning about all those things I "Should've" done instead. I will say this however, because I am so thorough in my reading and research I have had virtually NO issues with any plugin I have attempted to install. I see posts and posts of people having issues with this that and the other, and I think to myself, did they even read the documentation? Anyway, yes I am using Groupmanager, but I'm not adverse to doing something different. (I am crying inside right now, but oh well) Just let me know what would be the preferable and most prudent thing to do and I'll take your advice and experience over my own internet research. Right now I'm running 61 plugins and 23 different worlds... So any changes now are going to be dreadful. I put together a quick paste of what I'm running and if you can shed any light on my current setup, I would love the advice. pastebin server_info

I'm guessing that means you're using GroupManager :/
It doesn't nicely handle permissions modifications like the others do....

I would love you long time? (old school reference) I'm using the essentials suite for the /fly stuff and permissions.
I decided a long time ago I didn't have the patience to do any coding in college and never went from there, but I envy those that can. If there isn't anything available or someone else isn't wanting to take on this idea then I have no idea :-). Love the plugin either way. It's fun, and that's what counts!

Well, the plugin that supplies you the "/fly" command could hook into our API to see whether or not a player is disguised. Currently, I can't think of any other methods aside from writing up a whole new plugin that grants/removes permissions based on disguise.

Posted Oct 13, 2013I love this plugin, and it's a lot of fun, runs great! I have a question though, is there any way to stop my players from /fly when they are disguised? It causes some crazy issues with displaying the disguise properly otherwise. we're living with it now and it's not a big deal, but that would add a whole new level of interesting to things if we could ground the players if they want to do a disguise. :-) I do allow /fly in all of my survival worlds, but everyone tries to use the disguise while doing so. ha ha. funny to see a flying dog, but it's super glitchy. Let me know please! and thank you for all your hard work!
