What is CustomSpawners?
CustomSpawners lets you make any block a mob spawner! These spawners can be of any type, have many configurable properties, and can be hidden because materials like stone, grass, even air can be a spawner block! After creation, you can use it like in-game MCEdit to make custom mob spawner blocks too!
The mob types can be customized as well. Create mobs for your spawners like giant slimes that have only half a heart of health, different colored sheep, and if you want the ultimate boss, try giants or charged creepers with damage resistance and regeneration potion effects! You can even change how mobs take and deal damage!
Some Ideas for CustomSpawners:
- Make multiplayer dungeons with mobs that only appear when you get close!
- Make arenas with powerful waves of mobs!
- Create puzzles that won't turn off a spawner until solved!
- Create entities that can only be damaged from certain items or objects!
- Make ultra-dynamic dungeons that change depending on the amount of players in them!
- Make Custom Mob Spawners in-game! (No MCEdit required!)

If you make a video about CustomSpawners, let me know and I could post it here!
Installing
Simply download the CustomSpawners jar file from the download button above, and drop it in you plugins directory. Make sure you only have one version of CustomSpawners in the directory. After that, you can refer to the configuration page on the wiki for configuration of the plugin.
Basic Usage
I strongly recommend watching the tutorial series! I go into much more depth there.
To make a spawner, follow these steps!
- Login to your server.
- Run the command "/cse create <type of entity>" where "<type of entity>" is a mob like a pig or zombie. Note the GOLD ID number printed on screen.
- Select the entity with "/cse select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden ID given to you.
- You can set properties to the mob now, all of which are listed on the wiki.
- Now look at the block you want to make a spawner on, and run "/css create". You will see a ID number in gold for the spawner too.
- Select the spawner with "/css select <id>" where "<id>" is the golden spawner ID given to you.
- Make the spawner work in any light level by running "/css maxlight 15".
- Turn on the spawner with "/css on" and watch the mobs spawn!
Some other useful commands:
- "/customspawners" - displays the plugin info, and provides links to the main page for CustomSpawners and thebiologist13's BukkitDev profile.
- "/css on [id]" - Turns a spawner on.
- "/css off [id]" - Turns a spawner off.
- "/css listall" - list all the existing spawners and locations.
- "/cse listall" - list all the existing entities and their names if they have one.
- "/css setname [id]" - gives a spawner a name so it is easier to find.
- "/cse setname [id]" - gives an entity a name so you can identify it easier.

Hi!
The reason "/cs" doesn't work with WorldEdit installed is because WorldEdit also has a "/cs" command, and it takes precedence over CustomSpawners. Aliases for "/cs" like "/csplugin" still work though. The error looks like it is a problem with CommandBook too, unless CommandBook works when CustomSpawners isn't installed.
@Starmute
Do you mean copying + pasting the world folder? Or editing the map in a program like MCEdit? Also, are you using the right versions of Minecraft (1.4.7) and Bukkit (1.4.7-R1.0)?

Posted Feb 23, 2013CRITICAL BUG - Even when spawners are converted to vanilla ones, copying and pasting the map will cause all chunks containing custom spawners to be horribly corrupted.

Hello Again!
Thanks for reporting this bug, but could you PM me with the crash report itself? It should have generated in "plugins/CustomSpawners/Crashes". Also, be selection symbol, do you mean the item you are holding in your hotbar (holding in your hand)?
Thanks! thebiologist13

Posted Feb 19, 2013@thebiologist13 Thanks, that really helped. I did, unfortunately find a bug. It will have a crash report if you try to make it hold named items (It might not be named items, rather items with the Selection Symbol in them). This is the only bug I could note to be rather annoying so just thought I'd make it noticeable. Thanks.

Thanks! I'm so happy you like the plugin! :D
To make mobs hold enchanted items, you just have to hold the item you want to give them in your hand, then run the command "/cse hand [id] hand", where [id] is the entity ID if you don't have one selected.
Thanks Again! thebiologist13

Posted Feb 18, 2013This could possibly be my most fave plugin ever. I have never used MCEdit because I don't like it, but really wanted custom spawners. But this plugin came along, thanks :D By the way, how do you make spawners that make them hold enchanted stuff?

With "/css settype <entity ID>". More detailed information is on the wiki.
@mczimum
It looks like you are using Bukkit for 1.4.5. If you update to Bukkit 1.4.7-R1.0, the problem should be fixed.

Hi!
For what you are doing, I would create a falling block entity with Item Type set to sand, then create a spawner for it. Next, I would tell the spawner to use a spawn area that is 1 block wide by 1 block deep by 2 blocks high. Select the gold block in the picture as position one (see spawn area command on wiki) and the location you want it to spawn as position two. Finally, set the spawner's max mobs to 1 or 2, max light to 15, max player distance to 64 or something, and rate to 10 or 20. After making it active, I think that should do what you want. :)
@lvvipervvi
I think so, if this is a major inconvenience for you, however, I can try to make a more effective converter for the next update. :)
EDIT: I am terribly sorry, but I think too major of changes would need to be made for a converter. The new file format has just too much more data to account for. D: I am VERY sorry for any inconvenience.
@SnapGod
Sorry about that, I had another very busy week, but I will reply to you through a YouTube PM very soon. (Probably by the time you read this).
@Oldshoes
There is actually two options you have if you would like to do that. If you are not using properties like custom damage or damage blacklisting/whitelisting, you can just do "/css convert" for each spawner and it will load up fine regardless if you have CustomSpawners or not. However, if you are using properties not supported by vanilla Minecraft, you will first need to do the command "/customspawners export" to make a file in the world directory with CustomSpawners data. Then, users of your map would need to install CustomSpawners on their server and run "/customspawners import".
Thanks everyone! :D thebiologist13

Posted Feb 13, 2013Quick question, say I create a few custom spawners and then release the map to be downloaded by other users for single player use. Will these custom spawns stay the way they are or is the plugin required for them to function correctly?

Posted Feb 8, 2013Hello All!
Sorry for the delay in my responses, this week was the busiest I've had in a long while.
@lvvipervvi
Were you trying to old really old spawner files here (.yml format)? If you were, that is probably the reason. I changed the file format in v0.0.6 so old ones load really weird. If you remove the .yml files, it should load fine. :)
@austincain
Youlju is completely right here. The drops command is for "/cse". Also, for random/rare drops, I am implementing it next update! :D
@pongleung
Hmm, that is strange. Modifiers are still a new feature, so I haven't tested them extensively yet. I will look into this for the next update :)
@Kitten_Tails
Yes indeed! First create a potion entity (/cse create potion), then use "/cse potiontype <effect type> <level> <duration in ticks>" to set the type of potion it is.
Thanks for commenting everyone! thebiologist13

I believe what you were doing wrong was instead of...
You did = "/css setusingdrops 0 true"
I believe you should do this = "/cse setusingdrops 0 true"
Remember that CSS : "Custom Spawners (Spawner)" and CSE : "Custom Spawners (Entity)"
You want the CSEntity to drop different items, not the Spawner.
I hope I was clear enough :D ..Also what helped me was glancing at the commands page while in-game. ;)
