SoundCenter
SoundCenter - Music, Sound Effects, Webradio and Voice Chat for Minecraft!
Important
Development for SoundCenter is discontinued, but there is a great alternative that I like to recommend: MCJukebox
Version: v0.3
SoundCenter (formerly CustomMusic) allows you to set music boxes or regions that stream your own music, sound effects or webradio to all players in realtime.
It also implements a simple voice chat for Minecraft.
To use the features that SoundCenter offers, you and everyone who wants to hear music and voice chat must download and use the SoundCenter client.
You do not have to download or install anything. The client is running as a java applet on the website. You will get a message with a link to the client when you join the server. When you follow this link, the client will automatically connect. - Could not be easier.
Here's a video that shows how to use the plugin (Thanks to @jithins):
Development discontinued
Unfortunately I will no longer be able to work or give you support on this project. I am sorry that I couldn't implement all your awesome suggestions.
Thank you for almost 5 years of support, criticism, praise and blame ;) You are awesome!
If you are willing to take over this project, feel free to contact me.
Features
- You can set imaginary jukeboxes, cuboid areas or worlds and biomes as music stations
- You can also use WorldGuard regions as stations
- Stations can either play your own music/ sound effects, or webradio streams
- You can use a command or the client to play songs for yourself, all players in a world, or all players on the server
- You can use any supported audio file that is stored on a public webserver. Filehosters like DropBox will work as well.
- Supported audio formats: MP3, for webradio also OGG
- Everything is easily and intuitively managable with the client's user interface
- Every feature is configurable
- You can limit access with permissions
Extra Features:
- Voice chat
- SoundCenter adds a simple voice chat to your Bukkit server
- You can speak locally (only players that are not far from you can hear you. Volume depends on their distance)
- But you can also speak globally (The whole server can hear you)
- You can disable voice chat on your server if you don't like this feature
- many more to come
How does it work?
Okay so I have SoundCenter installed on my server, what can I do now?
It's easy: Before or after logging into Minecraft, run the SoundCenterClient.jar.
Now you can add songs in the "Music" tab, or add stations in the "Stations" tab. Boxes, areas or WorldGuard regions can be created ingame via /sc set <area|box|wgregion>. That's easier, because the box will be created at your coordinates. You can edit all properties of your stations by pressing the "Edit Station" button in the "Stations" tab.

Posted Jun 8, 2012I'm sorry for being away for so long. However, version 0.9a should still work with 1.2.5.
I'm pretty busy these days so i won't be able work on the plugin the next few weeks or months, but i will keep it compatible with future bukkit updates.

If I'm not mistaken, you may have the wrong plugin. The most recent version is 0.9a. You have version 0.9

It seems that custom Music is working fine, but the audio client isn't. Will this be a problem?

Posted Mar 24, 2012Could you add the possibility of playing music from an URL instead of uploading and downloading to solve the licensing issue? Here in Germany that is very strict and as awesome as it is I am not willed to pay 300€ per year to use it.

Posted Mar 12, 2012This is a great mod, and we love using this on our server. I have a suggestion though, if you'd consider it. On my server we are each setting up area's with themes. Sort of an RPish thing. There's only a few of us, and we're each making multiple areas. I was hoping to add songs to taverns, and a different song to each zone we make. I found, however, that when I upload more than 1 midi, the boxes and areas cycle through all the songs I've uploaded. Would it be possible to add a feature or a command to place a box or set a box to only play one specific song? So that I could say, set one song as a theme tune for one town, and then the next town over plays another, both songs having been uploaded by me.

Posted Mar 7, 2012Thanks so much for the 1.2 update :D
Under features you list that we can use .ogg files but when I try to add them to the audio client the file format .ogg is not listed under file types. Only .mp3,.midi, and .mid file types are listed. Please add the .ogg file type as an option in the audio client. Thanks again for updating :D
Edit:
Also I have 2 feature requests:
1 - Please add Default-Biome-Fadeout in the properties file or some sort of fadeout/crossfade when moving from one biome to the next.
2 - I would like to have commands available for setting 2 music files per biome so they alternate playing for Daytime and Nighttime. The reasoning is that the soundscape in a real life biome changes drastically between day and night. I currently have 2 music files for each biome (day/night) and would love to be able to use them.
