What is CreativeGates?
CreativeGates is a plugin that allows you to create teleportation gates without running a single command. The plugin does not impose design restrictions. Design the gate frame any way you like.
- Build a gate frame using any materials. It must however contain two emerald blocks (configurable).
- Name a clock with an anvil.
- Hit the inside of the frame with the clock
- Gates using the same clock name will connect to each other.
Install
- Stop your server.
- Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
- Put CreativeGates.jar in your plugins folder.
- Start your server again.
- For advanced users only: Configure the MassiveCore aspects and multiverses using the commands.
- Modify /mstore/creativegates_mconf/instance.json to your liking.
- Modify /mstore/creativegates_conf@universe/instance.json to your liking.
- Configure permissions. CreativeGates only has two nodes.
Portal vs Water
CreativeGates can use either portal blocks or water blocks for portal content. You decide which to use in the "uconf".
For portal blocks to work without bugs you must open your server.properties and set allow-nether=false. This will disable the generation of the vanilla nether map and the vanilla nether portals. This is how we do it on MassiveCraft. You can add one, two or even three custom nether worlds using a world manager plugin later on.
For water blocks to work you don't need to do anything special. If you want the vanilla nether world and portals you probably want to change to water portals in the config. Otherwise players entering nether gates in the nether might exit through creative gates.

I definitely agree with you, but it'd still be great if you could have multiple portals that all use the same material that wouldn't conflict with each other.
The simplicity of this plugin is amazing, but it has its limits, one being that you only have a limited amount of usable, yet still attractive blocks that make things look appealing.
Maybe have an option to make portals sign/command based for those who need more than 1 portal of the same material?
It'd be disabled in the config by default.

I like that it's based on the material and not on signs/commands to link them. That's the thing that what makes this plugin unique.

Posted Oct 4, 2012Have you thought about making the portals use signs to designate where the player will warp too?
There is a plugin called 'BlueTelepads' that uses it, i think it's interesting, and it would make this plugin more versatile.
My Server Spawn has a theme, and since you can't have multiple portals with the same material, it ruins the continuity of things.
Also, once you get a good number of portals up, you start running out of good looking or plausible material.
Where as if you made them sign based, like being under the center diamond block, you could link up the portals that way and have multiple portals, of the same material, that no longer conflict.
Just an idea.

Ive changed to multi portals or sumin like that its good i think a bit better then this one but its harder to set up portals but works x2 better

Posted Sep 26, 2012I'm running 1.3.1 and this plugin works for the most part, yet the one thing I've noticed is that sometimes when another player or myself go through a portal its hard to come back. We walk in the water and instead of teleporter just kinda float in the water. If we try enough times it does work but just kinda annoying. I'm not getting any errors or anything though. Great plugin, just wanted to give you a heads up.

Posted Sep 19, 2012I have a similar problem with @MCv4d3vil, when I downloaded this plugin and restarted my server, it said end of stream, after I uninstalled it, after 10 minutes, my server was up. I have 1.3.2 R0.1
This has happened with multiple plugins. Any solutions?

Posted Sep 19, 2012how do i make soo only certain people in a group can create gates?
i use GroupManager and i know that the permissions are:
creativegates.*:
children:
creativegates.create: true
creativegates.destroy: true
creativegates.use: true
creativegates.create:
description: create gates

description: destroy gates
default: true
creativegates.use:
description: use gates
default: true
but still when i add the permissions to the moderator Only, the normal players can still create portals (inheritance isnt the problem or any groupmanager thing, i check all my permissions before i posted this)

And I dont got this Bug, I can reload restart the Server > The Portals still work

Posted Sep 11, 2012ssdd, but in my cause, the gates SOMETIMES stop working after restart. sometimes not. sometimes they start working, if you pass into the first gate in chain of gates after restart. Seems like gate.json "forgets" to start working until you activate it from the first line. or something like that.
