Combat Tag
This plugin is unsupported!!! Use CombatTagPlus instead.
The essential PvP plugin that prevents hit-n-quit players. No longer will the fun of killing other players be ruined!
Combat tag is a plugin that can prevent your players from pvp logging, period.
Reason why we developed this:
When your players are in the heat of battle, sometimes someone gets cold feet, and logs out while in combat!
This means that the player can no longer be harmed, because they are offline.
This can be EXTREMELY irritating to other players, because the person they were attacking, is now safe and keeps all of their items.
How it works:
Combat tag makes it impossible to pvp log!
When a player is struck by another player, combat tag logs it in its log.
If one of the players logs off within 10 seconds (time can be changed) of being struck, combat tag comes to play.
Combat tag makes it so that if the player logs off within the ten second field, he spawns an NPC with the same inventory/health as him.
The player that was attacking then can attack the NPC, and the same is done to the logged off player.
If the player kills the NPC, the player that logged off in combat is also killed, and drops everything in their inventory.
If the player causes damage to the NPC, the player that is logged off also takes the damage (including armor).

About Incompatibilities:
As with any plugin where fake players exist, there will be places where other plugins do not take into account the possibility of fake players and may have unexpected results. I can't change how other plugins handle these NPCs, so probably a good bet if you're getting random PvPLogger files is to change the npc name to "player." That way the player and the NPC will share the same files.
Known Incompatibilities:
- Heroes in both instakill and NPC mode - No duplication of items, but players will respawn in their old location with the health they logged out at
- ModifyWorld - Npcs will not take damage

Posted Oct 4, 2012Hi!
I have a problem with the block editing blocker.
I have it set:
BlockEditWhileTagged=false
Does that mean it IS blocking breaking/placing blocks or not?

http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/combat-tag/tickets/88-v4-8-dupe-major-issue-w-mcm-mo/ Here is the current problem. I haven't yet found a fix.
I've also been busy recently in my personal life with school starting back up and a lot of extra things in the afternoon. Sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused. I hope to work a bit more on Combat Tag than I have recently.
Thanks for understanding.

Posted Sep 26, 2012Does this have an API that would allow another plugin to spawn a combat npc? For example I want to force players to use /logout or some other command like that and wait say like ten to twenty seconds (undecided atm) and then if they don't move, talk, or anything then they are kicked with the message of something like "successfully logged out" and a combat npc doesn't spawn.
I know most of that will be handled my side, but I'm just curious if this is possible..

wild guess:
combat tag prevents block (i.e.: diamond ore) from being broken when combat tag is set; mcmmo drops bonus drops from mcmmo skill despite block not broken. Resulting in infinite diamonds from a two man operation, such that A hit B, B gets tagged, B mines diamond, mcmmo gives bonus bonus drop (when skill level high enough), diamond remains on screen, B mines diamond, ... etc.

The color is normally red, if it's any other color, then they've edited the plugin in some way or have an external plugin that does it for them. I have no way of chat coloring in the Combat Tag code itself nor do I plan to.

@cheddar262
This actually sounds a LOT like a CB issue that I reported.
The report is private, but here is the fix waiting to be pulled into CB.

There is currently no chat coloring, I personally find this a waste of code. You don't need a pretty colored message to a player saying they've been tagged.

There is currently no way to disable the explosion, however I find it useful. I used to have a workaround in place for using player names because no two entities can have the same name on a server at the same time. This has broken in the latest update and I've tried to remedy this multiple times. I've found a way to name them the player name, but here's the thing... they do not appear to the player until they relog. This would also cause the attacking player to have to relog every time they wish to see the npc. I personally think that's a much bigger problem than npcs not having the player name.
Let me just remind everyone that you used to not be able to change the npcs name at all.
