How it works:

Install Vault
Install the Plugin. (Drop the coloredtablist.jar file into your /plugins folder)
Choose a Permissions Node named by the color.
Example: 'coloredtablist.blue' stands for blue :)
OR set 'UserPermissions' to false in the config and choose a color-code !scroll down!
Give a User (or a Group) the specifc Permissions Node.
OR give a Group the specific Color Code in the Config
Now when the User joins he automatically gets colored in the Playerlist (press Tab).

Commands:

You can use /ctl instead of /coloredtablist

/coloredtablist help = Shows a help Page with available Commands.
/coloredtablist reload = Reloads Config and Playerlist
/coloredtablist colors = View List of Color-Codes.
/coloredtablist nick <nickname> = Changes your Name in the Tablist until you reconnect or the Server reloads.

Config Commands:

/coloredtablist set usepermissions <true/false>
/coloredtablist set usechatnames <true/false>
/coloredtablist set prefix<1> <colors>
/coloredtablist set groups <group> <prefix/suffix> <value>

Configuration:

Version: 2.1.0

#Whether or not Permissions should be used instead of Groups:
UsePermissions: true

#Whether or not Displaynames should be used 
UseChatNames: false

#If it should update a player name every 15 seconds
UpdateEvery15Seconds: true

#Write the Groups in, like here. Use "" as Prefix to dont have one. You can use Colors in Prefix using & so &4 would be red.
Groups:
    Member:
           prefix: '&e'
           suffix: '[M]'
    Admin: 
           prefix: '&a'
           suffix: '[A]'

Use them in Config with "&" instead of "#" and as Fullname in Permissions

Known Bugs:

Max 14 Characters are shown in the Tablist, longer Names are shortened to 14 (Otherwise it would show an Error because 16 Characters is max. (and we are using Colors so its 16 -2 = 14 O.o)

When i use this new format, i see with Minecraft 1.8 in Tablist only my Name in White.

I use colortablist v2.1.2 last version but when i make color red for owner, my color in tablist is by all users white.

Hi mcheaven,

Using Permissionsex, I have group "default" to use the permissions coloredtablist.yellow. My member group inherits from default and has the permission coloredtablist.green, however, the members are showing as yellow. Any ideas?

did you make sure the current coloredtablist version doesnt work with it? Working with spigot/bukkit is a bit tricky at the moment because of the DMCA, so unfortunaly you have to wait until things got cleared up. With the new spigot releases for 1.8 is no public source code released, so I can't work with it (this is probably the wrong area for spigot releases here anyway ^).

For some reason, my ops and certain other players who are nicknamed with Essentials have the § symbol after their name in the TAB, any idea why? I'm using the latest versions and I have use chat names to true.

I can't fix your buggy plugin setup by joining your server. Make sure the bug is really caused by starting your server (or a second test server) with only Vault, a permissions system (like bpermissions) and ColoredTablist and then if you double checked your permissions and the ctl config and it still doesn't work leave a comment.

16 Characters is maximum. Every Color takes up 2 Characters. PLEASE consider reading before you post your "bug report" next time.

I have a problem where if you have words, no colors, in the tab, it cuts the name. My in game name is Ripdog1 and as shown here, it cuts it off if I have this: http://i.imgur.com/r5gdpCS.png but if I have a color, it works fine, it shows this: http://i.imgur.com/UpJHmQz.png Any help on fixing this?

Do you have any other plugins messing around with the tablist? Try restarting your server without coloredtablist in your plugins folder.

what do you mean with "Now event this is not working ..." ? Did I understand it right that your tablist name only changes wrong (after chatting) if you set the prefix using a command? Did you try restarting after changing the config?
