ChunkyVillage
Real towns. Real politics. ChunkyVillage allows servers using Chunky to create villages owned by mayors who run them. It is similar to Towny with a few tweaks that allow more government. Currently this is a work in progress but can be used fully with no problems.
If you need help learning how to use it either use the in game helps (/c t ? and /c t help) or come join irc.esper.net #chunky and I can help you out. Remember this requires CHUNKY to work.

Posted Oct 27, 2011Can anyone figure out a way for players to be able to buy and sell to a government account? For the government to have a bank account and inventory and be a able to use shop signs?

Posted Oct 17, 2011not a huge thing but a newb to chunky village, but it seems it works separate from chunky as I claim it with the walk claim, it counts it separate to the town, so is there a town auto-claim, or am I just doing it all wrong XD

In the servers I've played people build their own towns, non npc. Everyone gets his own parcel to build ;)

Yes right now it's slow and just for organization, I've made progress with war about half way done.
Bonus: http://getchunky.org/map/?world=flat&scale=12 Dynamic town maps, no extra stress on Minecraft server, done completely externally.

Posted Oct 14, 2011Mate, this idea is brilliant. *adds page to favorites*. The only problem is that you will need a server with quite active players, and quite a big amount of players. But I guess that won't be too hard?
EDIT: I checked out for servers, and there were already many using this mod. It's awesome, a bit slow (more for the daily player). But I like it a lot. Can't wait for the capture town implications.

Posted Oct 14, 2011@SwearWords Thanks! But we switched to essentials due to a problem with mchat, once we updated it to the newest build it didnt work even after remaking the config, if you could help with how to configure the new mchat that would be amazing!

The plugin DOES use iConomy.
@Kekler
Jeremy essentials is bloated and has TOO much stuff, I support it but it's a good idea to stop using it. It's actually better to use separate plugins that focus on one part and do it well. CommandBook for general commands, WorldGuard for protection, WorldEdit for some useful commands, and HeroChat/iChat/mChat or something for chat formatting.
@VariousArtist
I'm working based off of "Influence" which is calculated by the average play time of citizens. As of now, influence only determines how much land someone has. As for "land conquering" I'm not interested in that. It sounds fun but let's be honest, there is no really motivation to spend time claiming 1 chunk of another town's land that won't even be needed except to piss them off.
Instead I'm going to work to a larger goal, capturing the entire town itself. Capturing it block by block is boring, and isn't fun for more than an hour. Capturing the entire town is much more interesting. I kind of want to make it hard core...if the mayor is killed and the towns are enemies then the town gets conquered.

Posted Oct 14, 2011Hello Swear!
When it comes to a warfare system I think that the approach Factions made is a solid foundation! The power system it utilizes forces players to fight other players to take hold of their land. This way "timezone-" or "offline-" griefing is much reduced (its common in many 24/7 warfare systems that players will attack enemy group belongings when they are weak, aka offline. So a workaround that makes it nesseccary for players to engage is needed!)
