ChunkScrambler
ChunkScrambler - Anti X-RAY:
Version:1.0.0
This plugin changes the seed of the world when it is used to generate Ores and other resources.
This is used because X-RAY hackers can easily generate a SSP world with the server seed and X-RAY the location of the ores.
THIS ONLY WORKS WHEN NEW CHUNKS ARE FRESHLY GENERATED.
NO LONGER NEEDED
ChunkScrambler is no longer needed since clients cannot get the seed of the world anymore (since Minecraft 1.2)

Posted Feb 21, 2012How much load does this put on a server? I like that I can just have scrambler without obfuscator, as obf requires too much of my CPU.

Will this affect worldedits //regen command in any way?
Because I use //regen a lot to regenerate areas from seed.

Well, I'm still going to keep updating this in case anyone wants to run another plugin with this, and yeah, that's for 1.1-R1

Awesome!! If you're merging all the features into Orebfuscator, there's no real reason to keep this one updated... If you're not using both protections you're not really protected anyway.
I notice you mentioned 1.0.0 at the top of the site and in the changelog, but there's no link. Is 1.0.0 out yet, or is that a placeholder for 1.1-R1?

Posted Jan 15, 2012This plugin will be somewhat discontinued after being merged with Orebfuscator. I will still update the plugin, but only on the compatibility side. New features will only be released with the merged Orebfuscator plugin. Here's a link to it. http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/orebfuscator

From what I take of it, basically an extra bit of randomness is added to the existing generators, not just pure randomness. So the same algorithms are being used, just with a modified seed. Clay will still generate where clay is supposed to generate, just in different specific positions. Ore will still generate at the correct levels and in the correct blocks, just with different positioning and spacing. And so on for trees, flowers, etc.
In fact, I contend that this is the way the vanilla generator should work, with two seeds; a pubic seed for land generation and a private seed for generated items (along with a built in orebfuscator-type function in the server to hide underground ores from the client). If the game is going to be multiplayer-oriented, there needs to be a way for server owners to stop xraying and offline ore prospecting, and this is a great solution.

Fixed last fix not working -_-
@aviator1014
That's a little harder to do. It will have to temper with the deep generation codes that the current version doesnt.

What I'm asking is, what's to stop clay from forming nowhere near water or trees from forming inside mountains/in the air?

Not necessary anymore. The latest version should make the numbers of each generated material the same, but located differently. (so for example if you had 2 clay deposits and 5 trees, you would get 2 clay deposits and 5 trees but in different random locations).

Posted Jan 10, 2012This is brilliant! However I would appreciate a config to choose what I want to be affected, for example just ores, clay, and pumpkins, as it seems that very weird stuff could happen if too much above-ground stuff is messed with. Could this also someday work with dungeons/strongholds? I could see seed abuse being abused for those as well. Regardless, I will probably end up using this.

Posted Jan 1, 2012Hey, it looks like your plugin is breaking the following things:
Is there any fix to this? I need this plugin, my community is pretty big and I know some of them are trying to cheat. This ruined our first map, so I don't want it to happen again, but it's really horrible that this changes so much.

@re4397
Shouldn't need more power than standard generation. But of course it needs a bit more but I don't think it will lag your server.
