CHDistantFarm
CHDistantFarm is a lightwight and highly optimized plugin that keeps your plants growing when you're away and the chunk is unloaded.
Features:
- Keeps ur plants growing, while the chunk is unloaded
- Supports all important plants
- Nether Warts
- Crops
- Melons
- Pumpkins
- Cactus
- Sugar Cane
- Saplings
- Uses the original minecraft algorithms
- Low level caching for maximum performance
- Auto unregistering of plants if they are fully grown or destroyed
Installation:
- Put the plugin in your plugins directory
- The plugin uses the database from your bukkit.yml (default is sqlite)
- Replant the blocks that you want to grow when the chunk is unloaded
- Edit the configuration file
Upcomming:
- PermissionsEx support
- Disable the features for a specific player
- Disable growing for a plant on a specific world
Known bugs:
- Growing does not work for the spawn area
- Thats a minor issue, because the spawn chunk is always loaded, and the game will grow your plants without the plugin

Posted Feb 7, 2014Update -
I've rewritten distance farm to work with CB for 1.7.2. Supports all vanilla plants and trees.
I'm currently trying to get cocoa plants to grow, but so far I haven't been able to force a growth state. If anyone has some info on this let me know.
Cocoa plants or not, I will release a version this weekend.

Posted Dec 27, 2013I would love to use this plugin on my survival server! It's such a pain to have to stand and watch your crops grow if you want to farm. I wish I had the Java know-how to create/update plugins. :( Javascript just goes right over my head ha haa. :P
I've seen a couple of posts regarding this: If anyone is thinking about updating this plug`in, a post from the author last year states that you do have the author's permission: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/chdistantfarm-grows-your-plants/?page=4#c137

Posted Aug 27, 2013I would take this over but I don't have the source or the owners permission.
TO THOSE COMPLAINING ABOUT IT NOT WORKING; It DOES work! After you install the Plugin you must replant your crops so it can register in its database that it is there, it doesnt magically work everywhere, it would cause immense lag to check everything, so it ONLY grows the ones it has registered.

Posted Jun 8, 2013The results are in: nothing else has grown even a tiny bit since I logged out.
Tested outside the server spawn area, at the spawn area I'd set for my character.

Using Minecraft 1.5.2, craftbukkit-1.5.2-R0.1, java 7 update 21, I didn't get any error messages.
I just checked for any growth, and here are the results:
Carrot: No Melon: No Netherwart: No Potato: No Pumpkin: No Wheat: No
Oak: Yes - but I think this was a fluke Birch: No Spruce: No Jungle: No
I will check again in a few more minutes.

Posted Mar 5, 2013I haven't checked the addon lately.
xxBoonexx, this mod doesn't affect the growth of stuff when you are in the same chunk. When you are in the chunk your crops will grow using the standard game rules.

I think you completely misunderstood the point of this mod.
This mod simulates growth for chunks that have not been loaded, any variables set in the chdistantfarm config only affect the growth when doing this calculation.
If you are standing on a crop and watching it grow that chunk will always be loaded and this mod never comes into affect. this mod does not alter the standard minecraft growth code. Crops planted in the spawn chunk will also never be affected by this mod. The spawn chunk is always loaded.
