BoomStick
Smite thy foes with a blast of lightning!
Craft a BoomStick then use your experience levels to charge your lightning weapon!
BoomStick Recipe:
This is the default recipe, the recipe and XP Levels used are now configurable, see the configuration below.
Each time you left click while holding your BoomStick a lightning bolt strikes a mob or player in your crosshairs.
The default setting uses 5 XP Levels per BoomStick use.
Permissions:
boomstick.create - to allow a player to create a BoomStick (Default: false)
boomstick.use - to allow a player to use a BoomStick (Default: false)
Install BoomStick:
1) Add the BoomStick.jar file to your plugins folder
2) Start your server or /reload your plugins
Create a BoomStick:
Use the recipe above and have the boomstick.create permission.
Use a BoomStick:
Hold it in your hand, line up your target mob or player in the crosshairs and left click. Requires the boomstick.use permission and uses five experience levels per use.
Configuration:
BoomStick is now configurable, run it once and it will create a config.yml file in the BoomStick Folder which looks like this:
xp: 5 Recipe: - " D" - " S " - "RG " Ingredients: D: DIAMOND S: STICK R: REDSTONE G: GOLD_INGOT
Just /reload your plugins or restart your server if you make any changes.

You can either use a permissions plugin and give them the boomstick.create permission to craft a BoomStick and the boomstick.use permission to use it (they also need enough experience for each use).
Or you can use an archive program like 7-zip and change the permissions in the plugin.yml file inside of the BoomStick.jar file.

You need to have a permissions plugin. I recommend http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/admn-dev-permissionsbukkit-v2-0-official-default-groups-plugin-1-5-2-r1-0.26785/
then you'll use:
/perm player setperm bacca556 boomstick.use true
or
/perm group setperm default boomstick.use true
also, you'll need to set permission.build to true for default or move everyone into another group
/perm group setperm default permission.build true

Posted Dec 5, 2013please help im on 1.7.2 i have a bukkit server but when i try to use it it doesnot work i just downloaded the plugin draged it to the plugins folder open minecraft crafted the boom stick for some odd reson it does not work do i need to like do a command to make it work plz reply

Ok, I see, thanks a lot. :) I've got it although. I hope that you are not against my own, deadlock branch of your plugin for my server. And I am ready to share my ideas for it.
My version works with not sticks - it is three items: Dragon Egg (1 level for 1 lightning), Nether Star (2 levels for 1 lightning) and Creeper's Head (3 levels for 1 lightning) - last is rare drop on my server - chance is 1%. And I planning to create detailed config for this.
I tried to make that items breakable - and not infinite. But duplication in my version blocks this - they can repair item for free by this bug. But you can incarnate this. Let item has ability to create lightnings if its durability not 1000. Subtract durability points for each shoot. And if durability reachs limit - make item's durability to 1000, for example - as marker of item's emptiness. :)

I haven't been able to duplicate any of the problems you are having. It's possible it's a problem with the older version of Minecraft vs. the newer builds using lore and other meta data for items.

If you'll put your stick (with durability 1000) in craft-window, and after you'll put another stick (with durability 0) in the same slot - you'll get two sticks with durability 1000. It works on the contrary,also. And it works when you'll getting stick from the floor - this stick stacks with your stick:1000 - and we have double stick:1000.

Do you have the permission to use it, if not it won't allow you to create it.
The permission is set to false by default
You need the boomstick.create permission.
