Just use the simple commands linked below and you'll be on your way. No tricky maneuvers required!
To make books auto-update, make the book's title end with "[U]". For example, "booktitle[U],authorname.txt" or "updatingbook[U].txt".
All book data saves to [Server Plugins Folder]->[Books without Borders]->[Books]

Concerning Future Updates
Development for this plugin is currently inactive for the foreseeable future, though I would love to start again if I ever got the chance. If I become aware that this plugin no longer functions with current builds of bukkit and minecraft I will update this page to reflect that.
A sincere thank you to everyone who used and/or gave feedback for this plugin. It was a pleasure while it lasted.
If you enjoy this plugin and want to say thanks, some caffeine is always welcome :D

Oh wonderful! Thank you for explaining it to me. And yes, please make a way for us to see others books, or even better, so that we have to approve them before they have access to them.

If I am understanding correctly, most of what you describe is already available.
Currently when a player uses "/BwB save" to save a finished book to their personal directory, if they save that same book again and its title and author are still the same, the file it was originally saved to will be overwritten (meaning no duplicate files). If they are saving an unsigned book, they can use "/BwB save true" to overwrite the original file instead of creating a duplicate.
There is also the "/BwB delete" command for players to delete files from their own directory so they can manage their own books.
Currently players can use "/BwB load" to see a list of all the books in their personal directory, though a additional command for admin to see a list of someone else's personal books is definitely something I could add in a future update.
I hope that helps clear things up, and please be sure to let me know if you have any suggestions to improve my plugin documentation, or let me know if I've misunderstood anything.
Thanks for your continued feedback.

Here is how I was thinking it would work. When a player writes a book and then saves it it is in their file. However, say there is a mistake or they need to update it. They could delete the book from their file and then resave it. This way there wont be a TON of the same books taking up memory.
Along the same lines... if there was a way for them to do (for example) /bwb load<playername> and see all the books they have available to them then it would be helpful to them and us, as Admins.
Thank you again for all your hard work and your willingness to work with the community. I love to see positive people.

Author only delete is definitely something I could look into adding in the future, but if you don't mind, could you give me an example of how you see this feature being used? (Just so we are one the same page)
I actually came close to adding multiple item prices last update, but ended up dropping it as the update was a bit overdue as it was. I will do my best to get it into the next update.
As far as money prices go, that is actually implemented through Vault compatible economies as of BwB v1.3.3. See the "/BwB setBookPrice" command explanation here for setting the price in-game, or look here to see how to manually configure the price via BwB's config.yml.
As always, thank you for the suggestions and feedback. I look forward to your reply.

Posted May 9, 2014I like the author only copy, but what about author only delete? And maybe being able to make the payment of multiple items or even money would be great.

You are correct. I created the .use permission when this plugin was a much simpler affair. I will add .load and .save permissions in the next update.
As always, thank you for contributing to the further development of this plugin.

Posted Apr 12, 2014So if I get the permissions right its bookswithoutborders.use for both saving and loading books?
There isn't any way to allow players to save their written books but not being able to load them?
I'm looking for a way to let players contribute to the server by writing different books, but I don't want them to be able to load their books. Only saving them so I can go through them on my own later since the books that are ok will be dropped by mobs through a mod.

Just to be clear, when you use "/bwb load" to create a list of files to load, it is not showing any .txt files at all?
That is incredibly curious, and I cant think of a cause off the top of my head. If I may, could I have you pm or reply me your bwb config file settings, your book folder structure and contents that you are trying to load (for example: [bwb] -> [Books] -> [list of book titles] or [bwb] -> [Books] -> [UserName] -> [list of book titles]), and any errors that show up in the server console, so that I may attempt to recreate this issue.
Thanks again for your time and patience.

Posted Mar 23, 2014Ive just submitted v1.3.2 for approval, and it should be available for download soon. It adds many of the recent user suggested features. It does not add the changes to load list number give signs, but I hope to have that out soon.
As always, I appreciate everyone's patience with my updating process, and I look forward to future feedback and feature suggestions.

Thank you for the suggestion. In the upcoming update (coming very soon), I will change give signs to allow the last line to be whatever text you want, as long as the 3rd line is a load list number.

Posted Mar 4, 2014I really love this plugin, but it seems like givepublic doesn't work from the console. It always causes an error message:
Is there something I am doing wrong or is it a bug? I am using v1.3.1c and Craftbukkit 1.7.2-R0.3
