Posted Jul 19, 2012Thank you SO much for developing this mod for 1.2.5. Obviously, I'm excited to use book & quill in 1.3, but it seems like every other book mod was either out-of-date, dependent on ModloaderMP, or the developer just figured everyone used a vanilla server.
Books has pretty much relieved all the anxiety I had about how quickly I'd need to upgrade my server after 1.3's release. Simple, straightforward, and not overpowered.
You are a scholar and a gentleman, basically, and I love you for it.

I do hope you're aware Notch hasn't worked on Minecraft for awhile.

I've checked out the bug, it seems there is no easy way to fix it because of how Bukkit has designed the event that allows you to control block breaks.

Hi!
No I haven't seen that before, looks awesome though. But because of this I think it's time for me to stop the development of this plugin. Too bad I almost had a new version ready. Anyway I've learned a lot about the Bukkit API and also about Java through this project. I might release the source code later on.
Unfortunately this means I'm not gonna fix the bug you found.
Edit: I will take a look at the new book features, I am thinking of making a new plugin that allows you to write to signed books, copy them and maybe remove that awful §k.

Posted Apr 27, 2012Hey iiMaXii
I think we've found a bug. Normal players are able to break bookshelves in World-guard protected regions - they can't break any other blocks there, but can still break bookshelves.
Been looking at the new book functionality in the snapshot yet? I'm hoping they'll implement a lot more useful stuff first before rolling it out.

Yeah, you're right. I was in creative whilst doing admin stuff. In survival mode later it seemed to work just fine, the stacks joined for a second and then parted again.

The fact that you can stack different books seems strange.
Maybe you are in creative mode, I haven't prevented books stacking there. But I will fix that in the next version.(read edit below)There is no bug tracker yet, but I'm gonna fix that soon. You may send me a PM here until then.
Edit: About books stacking in creative mode; the plugin should prevent this, but a bug in Bukkit is making this impossible.

Thanks! We've installed it, and are making sure that it doesn't do anything unexpected on our server.
I've noticed that when stacking books, if you put a written book onto an empty book the written book is erased, and if you put an empty book on top of a written book the written book is duplicated without any use of the craft table.
A couple of quick questions: Are the books stored in plaintext like in bookworm? (Edit, yes, found them now that they've been saved to disk, although I had to create the folder structure manually after I saw the error message on the server) Where should I report bugs if I find any?

All empty books can be stacked as usual and all books with the same content is also stackable. Additionally there is no block protection in this plugin. So I don't see anything that will prevent you from using it.

Posted Apr 18, 2012We were using bookworm for a while on hardcore.hcsmp.com, but had problems with some exploitable features where bookshelves were unable to be destroyed (plus people got really annoyed that they couldn't stack books to make bookshelves easily). Are there any similar features in this plugin that would mean we can't use it?

I have used Bookworm on my server and it's a great plugin. But I thought it lacked some features, so I began making this plugin. Some of the major differences is listed under features above, and Bookworm supports Spout while my plugin doesn't, I may be adding support for this in the future.
