BloodMoon
Description
This plugin will add a blood moon event to your server, each night has a configurable chance of a blood moon. During a blood mood the game is made a lot harder:
- Skeletons shoot faster.
- Skeletons shoot fire arrows (that start fires).
- Zombies spawn with weapons and armor.
- Mobs can break blocks when focused on a player.
- Hostile mobs have more health.
- Small chance of your sword taking massive damage with each strike.
- Creepers have much more powerful explosions (that cause fire).
- Any hostile mob killed has a small chance of coming back as a zombie (or other mob).
- A mob will spawn if you try to sleep.
- More mobs will spawn.
- Mobs will drop more XP when killed.
- Mobs will drop more items when killed
- Mobs will target players from further away
- Mobs will move faster
- Custom texture pack during a bloodmoon, the default one makes the moon red.
All of the features can be configured for each world. See the config section for more information.
Bug Reports / Suggestions
If you find a bug, encounter a problem or have a suggestion, please fill out a ticket via the Tickets link above. I do not have the time to read through the comments section, any comment that fits the previous three categories will be ignored.
Commands
- /bloodmoon start - Starts a bloodmoon event.
- /bloodmoon stop - Stops a current bloodmoon event.
- /bloodmoon next - Schedules a bloodmoon for the next night.
Permissions
- bloodmoon.admin.start - Allows the player to manually start a bloodmoon
- bloodmoon.admin.stop - Allows the player to manually stop a bloodmoon
- bloodmoon.admin.ignore-world-lock - Allows the player to leave the world even if the bloodmoon is active and the lock-in-world feature is enabled
All of these default to OPs only.
Config
Information relating to the config file for this plugin can be found on the config page.
Potential Conflicts
Due to limitations of the Bukkit API, this plugin has to override certain methods from the Minecraft source. If any other plugin replaces the same things it will not be compatible with BloodMoon and weird stuff may happen ! You would still be able to use both plugins but you would need to disable the break-blocks option in the config file, even them some features of either plugin may not work properly.
Contributing
Contributions to the project are very much welcome, if you have a feature that you want implemented and know a nice way to do it then consider forking the repo and submitting a pull request. These will be accepted as long as the following simple guidelines are followed.
- Do not edit the structure of the pom.xml file, feel free to add a dependency if you need it but the formatting and structure should not be changed.
- If you are exposing a new API method, add a JavaDoc comment to it, but don't over-comment internal code.
- Follow the existing code style, don't antagonise over every space though !
All dependencies that are used are now available from a public Maven repo, so you don't have to worry about building several other projects just to add a simple change any more.

I run the Jenkins on my dedicated server and port 80 is already in use by the main webserver. Not much I can do, BukkitDev does not allow linking to other hosting sites and I don't want to upload a build here until a beta of CraftBukkit is released.

Posted Jul 3, 2013I got some strange SMC network cable internet router and no matter what I try I cant get my port 8000 unblocked. My firefox allows port 8000 too. Why is it that you host your dev builds on a non standard port?

Make sure you have access to non-standard ports.

Posted Jul 2, 2013I tried, It will not let me access the page for bukkit.jacekk.co.uk:8000/job/BloodMoon/ D: I tried shortening the url to bukkit.jacekk.co.uk and it gave me a 403 forbidden page "You don't have permission to access "/" on this server."

It does nothing to modify the limit and works by simply spawning additional mobs (based on the multiplier) when one spawns naturally. It can mean that the chunk limit is reached before it would normally be though, there is not really much I can do about that :/

Posted Jun 12, 2013@wide_load Thanks for the reply. My More-Spawn is set to False. Should I write a bug? In the mean time I will modify the values and see if that changes things even though it is set to false.
Does More-Spawn do anything to adjust the limits that Minecraft has on Mob spawning? I imagine the game has set limits for the number of mobs per chunk or something similar. Our issue was that a player's Mob Grinder wasn't working due to the spawn mechanics Bloodmoon was modifying.
If you are really feeling generous I'd love a breakdown of exactly what the More-Spawn does to the game and spawning mechanics.

Check the server log for errors, create a ticket if you find one.
@perfect007
That would be the more-spawning feature, try lowering the group size a bit.

I believe so yes.

Posted Jun 11, 2013Hi Wide_Load,
I've been running this for a while now and I really enjoy it. I enable Bloodmoon at all times to make the game more difficult. However I've noticed that it seems to have done something strange to mob spawn patterns. They now only spawn in large chunks of about 5-10, usually all the same monster type. The chunks are few and far between. I'm thinking it's the More_Mobs setting, but I disabled that and did a '/reload Bloodmoon' command.
I would prefer to have a larger than normal spawn rate for monsters, but I'd also like to not have them spawn in huge chunks. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks!

Posted Jun 9, 2013I'm not sure if I'm installing this wrong, I dragged the jar into my plugins folder, and i reloaded the server. But it created a bloodmoon file inside the plugin folder, and theres nothing in it. The server cmd doesnt load bloodmoon so I'm not encountering any bugs because I'm not loading the plugin at all. The jar made a folder but its empty so I'm uncertain as to what I'm missing.

Posted Jun 8, 2013One Idea.
add custom-item-drop
with name and description change support
with enchantment support(i will be able to enchant power into pickaxe or something like that)
and this plugin will be perfect
