bbChatTags v1.5 |
Add your own BBCode-like tags to minecraft's new chat! Use italics, bold, colors and more in game!

About the plugin:
_
Have you ever been wanting to say something in italics while in game? Or maybe you wanted to point out an obvious thing in bold? Well now you can do that!
_
Since Bukkit has joined Mojang we haven't seen much come out of it...until today (3/23/12) that is! With the release of Minecraft 1.2.4, Mojang has added many new chat features. This plugin allows you to set your own tags for Italics, Underline, Bold, Strikethrough, and chat colors! You should be pumped right now.
Features:
- Configurable tags for Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, Underline, and colored fonts.
- Configurable reset tag that will clear formats after the tag.
- Config file has the suggested tags already :)
- /tags
- Lists all the tags from the config
- /bbchattags
- Reloads the config
- /settag <tagID>
- Set the tag for the specified format (aka. tagID)
How to use:
Commands:
- /settag <tagID>
- Set the tag for the specified format (Example: "/settag italic ital" will change the tag to [ital]
Permission: "BBChatTags.settag" - /bbchattags OR /chattags
- Reloads the config. If you want someone to not have this ability, just don't give them the permission "BBChatTags.reload"
Use of the Tags:
- Permission required to use tags: "BBChatTags.chat"
If you think I should change this, just leave a comment about it; I'm not very good with permissions - all tags require brackets surrounding them. (eg. If in config it says "Bold: b", use "[b]test" in chat
Config:
Suggested Values
Colors: black: "&0" dark_blue: "&1" dark_green: "&2" dark_aqua: "&3" dark_red: "&4" dark_purple: "&5" gold: "&6" gray: "&7" dark_gray: "&8" blue: "&9" green: "&a" aqua: "&b" red: "&c" light_purple: "&d" yellow: "&e" white: "&f" MAGIC: "magic" Formats: Bold: "b" Italic: "i" Underline: "u" Strikethrough: "s"

I've noticed this too, and I've been trying to fix it. I've been very busy though, so sorry!

Posted May 12, 2012This is so frustrating! I just cannot get this to work no matter how hard I try! Please, I type [i] or [b] before my text and NOTHING WORKS! I have redone the chattags and everything. What can I do?

Well... I haven't double checked, but I'm pretty sure that the client uses regex to check for hyperlinks. If you don't know what regex is, it basically is an advanced expression to look for certain things inside a string of text. This is how it looks to use it. A lot of programs use regex to select and highlight things like hyperlinks.
SHORTANSWER:
I think the regex I used only recognizes hyperlinks ending with / , which I'll try to fix. But anyways, yes it works for ones without www

Posted Apr 7, 2012So this also works for url's without the www part? http://dev.bukkit.org
The original client only makes it a link if it finds www. in it.
Thanks for the plugin! ;-)

Posted Apr 6, 2012Another quick update!
v1.5
Hyperlinks in minecraft are a bit buggy now, and, of course, I can't really fix that. Hopefully they will fix these things, and I will be able to update this plugin again!

You can use it like how you would use BBCode's closing tags, except it resets the text back to no formatting. Here is how you can use it:
[b]this[/] is a line of [i]text
↓
this is a line of text
