Ancient Gates
Introduction
This plugin can allow those with permission, to create gates. These gates will teleport any player, entity (incl. passenger) or vehicle (incl. passenger) that enters that gate to the designated location and/or execute a command. This is a very easy to use, easy to maintain transportation plugin! As a bonus, the gates can look any way you like (vertical or horizontal), with a selection of portal materials.
To get started, try the in game command: /gate

Posted Mar 5, 2013I am having the same issue that RastaBrandon is having. I have Vault installed and I've deleted this plugin, reinstalled the plugin, tried both permission nodes (both the .* and .[gateid]) and the ONLY way anyone can use the gates are if they are OP. It continually says "You lack the permissions to enter this gate."

If you are using the permissions nodes, please ensure you have the Vault plugin installed: dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/vault/

Could you pastebin a server log of when the error occurs? I need to see the stack trace at the point of the error.
Cheers!

This plugin has been around since early 2011 and still functions the same way as when it was first created. Here is the video tutorial from the original author, Olof Larsson:

And here are two alternative YouTube videos below:

A new video is something that is on my todo list.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. Now I won't have to manually update it.

Exact same config. It is merely an continuation of AncientGates and will remain that way.
I shudder at the thought of redoing every gate :/, haha!

Posted Feb 28, 2013Is this using the same config as the previous one's?
Or would I have to redo every ancientgate I have on my server?

I'm just continuing the ongoing maintenance of AncientGates, there is a previous version of AncientGates at 1.2.5 here: dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/ancient-gates/files/5-ancient-gates-v1-3/.
I use it on my own Tekkit server, so I may look at updating the 1.2.5 version soon with the latest features I've introduced anyway.

Posted Feb 28, 2013Ok, so this plugins looks amazing, and i'd love it on my server. But it's a tekkit server running 1.2.5
If you could make a version that could run on a 1.2.5 server, you'd probably get a substantial amount of downloads from tekkit servers also. I've just tried the latest version on my server just to test if it would work or not, and sadly doesn't.
Thanks

1st of all, I use GroupManager myself, so this shouldn't be a problem. Let me try and explain the access permission in more detail....
ancientgates.use.* defaults to true. What that means is that if you don't set any access permissions at all, then anyone can enter an Ancient Gate. The decision to do this was so that the access permissions did not affect any previous users of AncientGates that did not want to use the new feature, people could update the plugin and carry on as before.
So what if you wanted to use the access permissions? What you would have to do is place the permission -ancientgates.use.* in the very bottom group (the group that all others inherit from), note the minus sign at the front.
This removes the ability for anyone to enter an Ancient Gate. Then... For each group/user we can specify specific gate access by giving the permission node ancientgates.use.ARandomGateIdHere.
Quick example...
Everyone: -ancientgates.use.*
ancientgates.use.GateForEveryone
Members: ancientgates.use.GateForMembers
Staff: ancientgates.use.StaffGateOnly
One thing to note is that gate IDs in the permission nodes are probably case-sensitive (although I haven't checked). And if playing around with permission nodes a fair bit, I would advise restarting the server once the permissions are all set up.
Hopefully this makes the access permissions more clear.

No you didn't miss anything, this is my fault.
Both the Vault permissions hook error message and the Vault economy hook error message was the same.
This has been fixed in the latest version: Don't link to unapproved files :)

I've got Vault in my sever's plugins folder, but upon launching my server, AncientGates brings up an error in the console: "Vault dependency not found. Permissions and economy support unavailable."
Other plugins that use Vault, such as bpermissions, work with Vault just fine, but AncientGates refuses to recognize it. Did I miss something? :S

Try searching on YouTube for an AncientGates tutorial/howto. I will look into making a more detailed guide. In the meantime if you're still stuck after that, then send me a PM.
