Plugin: TrainCarts - Linked Minecarts, sign-redstone systems, easy to use and realistic
Version: v1.73.0
Build: 1.7.2 R0.1/R0.2
Incompatible with: RailCraft
Description
This plugin looks for suitable Minecarts and links them together if possible. When two Minecarts are being "linked", the Minecarts will act as one single moving train.
Once carts are successfully linked, an effect is played and their velocity is shared in combination with an individual factor for each Minecart, which is used to remain a steady gap between carts. This gap is adjustable, the force at which this happens as well.
End result: a train! You can move it, make a roller-coaster out of it, split it in half, watch trains collide, whatever you want to do with trains. :)
As for 1.21, it is also possible to safely exit your train by setting an exit offset with a (sideways) push factor for the train. This feature is disabled by default. (only affects dropped items). If you want to display arrival times on signs (see redstone circuit part) you need SignLink, see the downloads on the bottom of the page.
As for 1.35 you can set train properties to make 'special' trains, or to 'finalize' a train

For configuration, permissions and how-to's, see the Wikipedia page (it is rather long):
Note that I would prefer having comments, bug reports and others in the main Bukkit page, since I visit that site the most. :)
Addons
Special Addons for TrainCarts
Features
- Link minecarts using collision: no commands needed to make a train
- Move trains as easily as you would with single Minecarts
- Store trains to file for persistence during reloads and server restarts
- Use sign-redstone circuits for subway systems, complete railroads and much more
- Station to gracefully stop and launch trains
- Spawn
- Teleport
- Property setters
- Tag systems to switch certain tracks based on tags on the train
- Destination systems to make your train travel to far-away lands all on it's own
- Supports Minecart Mania's features
- Infinite minecart speeds are possible
- Push-away: Push mobs, players and items away from your trains to keep them running
- Everything is configurable, if something proves not to be, I will make it that way
FAQ
When players are near, trains reach their destinations. With no one near, they don't. What do I do?
By default trains do not keep chunks loaded, and they will unload once they move into unloaded chunks. To make trains keep the chunk area (and themselves) around them loaded, set the 'keepchunksloaded' property to True. This can be done using the /train keepchunksloaded true command, using a property sign or by changing it to true in the DefaultTrainProperties.yml file. For more information about train properties, see here.
Why not boats?!?!
Incompatibilities
If you have another plugin that performs similar Minecart replacement techniques, it is likely that TrainCarts will not function or function poorly. For the 'chunk persistence' part of this plugin, other plugins that unload chunks without firing events result in this feature failing. Minebackup is known for having this problem.
Metrics
This plugin sends server count statistics to MCStats.org. You can (globally) opt out in the PluginMetrics/config.yml file.

Posted May 3, 2013@sander2012 You will really need to update TC to 1.62.7 found on the development build server, official build is still in progress. Although the main bits and pieces are there, we are struggling with a memory issue occurring on one of our tester's servers. Only they seem to have this issue, and it appears to be a plugin conflict, but until we fixed it, we can't publish it.

Posted May 3, 2013@bene2008 You can attach a lever to the block a station is attached to. When the train stops/waits on top of the station, this lever is flipped providing power.

Your BKCommonLib was outdated
NoLagg, TC and BKC work fine together if you use the latest dev builds for each plugin
On 1.5.2 of course :P

Posted May 3, 2013Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to make a system where stopping at a station would control the gates shown in the image below.
Train leaves, they close. Train stops, they open.

Thanks

So can you add an option to enlarge brake power? My users creates trains so this isn't defined trains with arrival times. It's very needed by my players to easiest maneuvering.

Posted May 1, 2013@NorbuGames Hmn you may have to update BKCommonLib and/or Nolagg. It is also wise to install ProtocolLib, as there appears to be some sort of conflict somewhere... But looking at the outdated error for the network hook thing at the start: Update BKCommonLib to the official 1.51 build. Do the same for NoLagg (to the latest dev-build) just in case.
@Jacold There is a 'allowManualMovement' property for trains, when enabled, players can (very slowly) move the minecart back and forth using WASD. But it's not exactly what you want, as that is a bit more broad.
For disconnection, I can't really do that, as the minecarts would instantly link again after de-linking. Collision handled and all. Note that you can use a curved switcher rail to split trains!
Also: Update: latest dev-build now has a train.place.traincart permission, allowing you to change who can build TrainCarts' minecarts. It was a requested feature for a while now.

Posted May 1, 2013Can you add some controls? For example: - Sneak - Hard brake - Forward - Move - Back - Brake - Jump - Fuel the locomotive using coal (on if in hand)
And... - Attacking minecart while sneaking will disconnect minecart from train with both sides - Add some noteblock sound effect like a trumpet in real locomotive (activated by List Player button)

Posted Apr 30, 2013@Etsija The reason being that I have to wait for BKCommonLib to be all clear to go, and that I want to avoid publishing too many sub-versions in a short time. In the past, builds have been rather unstable, requiring updates far too often. It's better to aim for one durable and stable version than publish bugfixes all the time. The next official build will be soon though, BKC is already official now.
@SilverBlood92 Hmn I can not really explain it, except if you have a lot of redstone around the station that, for some reason, is disabled. I'll see what I can do to fix it.
Note that I first have to fix up MyWorlds and NoLagg for the next official build. They are about done as well, but there are a few minor issues that need fixing.

Posted Apr 29, 2013Hi bergerkiller ! First thanks for the amazing work ! Greatest Plugin ever !
But i still have an issue with stations. It looks like when you're too far from a station, it doesn't work anymore. It looks quite similar to the chunks problem with trains, but i can confirm i activated the KeepChunKloaded option in every config file.
Trains only stop at the station and never restart, except if i come to the station's chunk, and if many trains are in the same station, the result is a stack of trains which destroy all the system...
Hope you can give me an explication, sorry for bad english...

Posted Apr 28, 2013On a bit more serious side: Bergerkiller, what's preventing publishing TrainCarts for 1.5.1? I think it has been "ready" for it for a long time already. I guess that would stop those useless requests flooding...
