What is StainedGlass?
StainedGlass is a Spout plugin that adds a number of custom glass blocks to Minecraft. The Stained Glass blocks are purely for decorative purposes and they can be placed just as you would with regular glass but they appear to Spoutcraft users as different colors, depending on which block is crafted. Any players not using Spoutcraft will see these blocks as normal plain glass so the look of any structure would be unaffected. The colors of the stained glass blocks are as closely matched as possible to that of colored wool blocks.
Crafting a Stained Glass Block
Stained glass blocks are made using 2 dye and glass block in a workbench just like regular items. All of the colors are made in the same way with the appropriate dyes.
Stained Glass colors:
- Black
- Red
- Green
- Brown
- Blue
- Purple
- Cyan
- Light gray
- Gray
- Pink
- Lime
- Yellow
- Light Blue
- Magenta
- Orange
- White
Installation
Installation of StainedGlass is very simple.
1. Download the latest StainedGlass.jar
2. Place StainedGlass.jar in your plugins directory
3. Restart your server (or reload if you prefer)
Requirements:
StainedGlass is a Spout plugin so you are required to have Spout installed on your server.
- Server side: with CraftBukkit RB 1.4.7-R0.1 and SpoutPlugin build 1412+
- Client side: Spoutcraft build 1920+ is required to see the custom blocks.
Known Issues
There are a number of known glitches or bug in recent Spout/Spoutcraft builds which may seem like StainedGlass bugs. You can read about them on the Known Issues page.
Future Possible Feature Additions:
The following are potential features which may, or may not, be added to StainedGlass in the futre. There is no timeframe for any of these.
- Lighter color blocks of all colors which have no existing block (example: red)
- Glass Panes - When Spout supports it
- Customized recipes for all blocks
- Server admin config to decide whether blocks are no longer dropped when broken
- Permissions to use the blocks.
- Customizable url for block textures

You need to download and use the Spoutcraft Launcher to use Spout custom blocks.

In the plugins folder, go to Spout > Precache > StainedGlass > 0.1.2 folder, and you should be able to edit the stainedglass.png file.

Same. Server runs smoothly for a few minutes until crash. Once the glass blocks are removed, there are no crashes in sight. Would love to see this baby updated. Adds beautiful color to Minecraft without using wool.

Once I disable StainedGlass the server remains stable, but once it is enabled and glass is placed; it will crash it seems. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Going to look into customized recipes and texture urls now.

Do you have Spout running on your server? If not, you'll only see flint for special blocks such as these. You can get it from http://get.spout.org. Note that Minecraft 1.4 isn't yet supported by Spout/Spoutcraft.

the minecraft client is a download and can only display what is downloaded. spout means that the server can TELL the client a block, and what the block is like, etc. this means that unlike the minecraft client you can make things look however they like.

Spout Plugin needs to be in your server plugins so players can recognise custom items and other spout features.
Also Spoutcraft is needed to see the blocks.
Spoutcraft is an alternative version if Minecraft Client You open it the same way as you so when starting minecraft, and it requires you to log onto the minecraft auth servers just like minecraft.
the difference is minecraft client can't see any customised items, GUI, or other things spout plugins add. but the spoutcraft client can see all those changes, but every time minecraft does an update, spoutcraft needs time to update their client also to apply the changes.
THIS IS WORKING ON THE LATEST BUKKIT #2366 SPOUTPLUGIN #1338 AND SPOUTCRAFT #b1720

You need Spoutcraft client it can't be a minecraft client with the spout mod! I've tested that and it don't work. Spoutcraft client is a non-cracked mincraft.

Posted Jul 30, 2012I keep getting flint whenever i put dye with glass. I read that this was a Fixed Issue; however, whenever i place the flint, it just shows up as a regular glass block. No color or anything. I've tried installing different versions of spout and different versions of stainedglass and am still getting the same results. I really want to add this mod badly! It looks awesome!

Posted Jul 30, 2012Hey great plugin :D my players love it, well the ones that are not playing on cracked minecraft do. Only one complaint, doesn't support WE (WorldEdit). I don't mind not having world edit, i just get my players to replace the glass :D but they complain and be whiny brats but whatever I'm satisfied with this plugin, great work.
