Residence

About
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

That was actually quite easy. All I wanted was Residence to work in one world and just had to add the permission to one group in GroupManager and that seemed to do the trick.
Thanks!

Thats a bit complicated That is where you want to set all the groups in the config to CanCreate: false And then only use the permission node residence.create to allow people to create. That way you can use a permissions manager with multiworld permissions support to allow create in one world but not another.

Posted Aug 20, 2012I removed the zone and made it again and it seems to be working now. Another question:
How do I prevent the use of Residence when in a particular world? This doesn't seem to have permissions. If my world's name is 'Anarchy', where do I add it to prevent anyone in that world from using Residence?

Just click F3, read your coordinates, type /res info and/or /res listall
Read residence start/end coordinates, say if they say ok or they say one thing and protecting another.
Maybe you did select your residence area wrongly? ;>

Okay, that makes sense, but why if I've marked the protection three blocks below my floor is it telling me the floor blocks are not in a protection zone? The blocks above that floor are considered in the zone.

As for me i use Residence as a 2d protection, force players to create fully height residences - reduces problem with grifers (creating something above/under someones house) and the problem with fighting players for terrain (someone build a underground house and other on top or in air).
But i love residence for 3d, because subzones do need in most of the case be able to create only on some heights - for example, protecting basements of residence different that upper house.
So i only wait with patient for Residence 3.0 to get more control over it, for example different messages(maybe flags) on new residences and different on new subzones, different configs in different world without setting different groups for players on different worlds (it creates chaos in permissions and other 'groups') (different configuration on worlds would be epic)

Block 0 is bedrock, block 256 is the roof of the map. You set your min/max heights between those. if the min is 50 then people would be unable to protect the bottom 50 layers. if the max was 128 people could only protect up to block 128 from bedrock. ect.

Yes, I read that, but this doesn't explain how this "altitude" is determined. Is this referenced to sea level? What sense would setting this to zero be since that wouldn't protect underground areas? Do I need to set this to a negative value to protect underground? Would seem not since I have already done this (and was charged) while the setting is zero.
I've only created normal zones with /res create. Not even sure how subzones work. I've also not been able to add on areas to existing zones. I get a "not a command" error when trying it. The server is new and I'm the only one using it so far.

MinHeight: "This setting determines the lowest altitude the group can zone."
MaxHeight: "This setting determines the highest altitude the group can zone."
That's all I got. The other use is above my head. :p
You're creating a residence and not a subzone, correct? Also if you're not the host/owner you may want to check with them to make sure their MaxUpDown: height isn't messed up or that they have subzones enabled, if it's a subzone. Have you tried using "/res select X Y Z" to see if that changes anything? Or even "/res select vert" to expand to the maximums?

Posted Aug 19, 2012Some clarification, please: If 'MinHeight' is set to zero, what exactly does this mean? Is this in relation to the value obtained with the 'depth' command?
I protected an area about three blocks below a building, but when I click the floor with the check tool, it says "No residence here". Standing on that floor, the depth command reports one block above sea level. It charged for it when I created it and all the blocks above the floor are being reported as in the protected zone. I also protected areas far below this, underground. I was charged for these too.
I'm not getting 'MinHeight'.

Thanks Rodier - but I'm the only one that can use residence and the residence that is conflicting is one that I've only "just" made. I literally went from one (which is only 10 deep from water) to another one that is 300 blocks in a north westerly direction. They are soooo far away from each other, that there is no way to overlap.
I also have dynmap and can see every residence that I've done.
Unless it's the vert command and residence is assuming that it's conflicting?
I tried doing 2 residences close to each other the other day too, but I couldn't put them next to each other then either.
Is there a minimum distance that they can be from each other?
edit
Just remembered that I tried this with subzoning, and I couldn't put them right next to each other there either.

Posted Aug 19, 2012Darkbyte7 - i tried one time residence lease system and this is automatically set. When someone got residence for few days, they got standard flags (trusted), but they werent able to change any flags. Not even invite friends to their res..
Pgirl - probably someone have residence under your (in ground) try /res select 50 50 50 - lower one of this number, I dont know which of this is height.. I think 2nd? /res create name and you will see for self.. (dont use /res select vert so it will not be from bedrock to sky)

Posted Aug 19, 2012At the risk of someone repeating themselves, can some one help me solve this query? I'll look through the 162 pages of chat, but someone might have a quick answer.
Anyway - I'm trying to do /res create blah blahblah using world edit, and even though I'm more than 50 blocks away from the other smaller one, I'm getting a "collides with blah residence"
WTH? I need to be able to butt these up against each other pretty tight, as I want people to be able to do their residences. :)
Any help appreciated.

You could maybe use:
to keep them from changing the flags and then give the owners separate flags to allow/deny use, containers, build, etc..But if not, further down at the bottom of the config file is some pretty in-depth Flag permissions.

Posted Aug 18, 2012Ok some im having huge problems setting up my settings for Residence properly, any help would be appreciated. I hope its not to much to ask. :)
What I'm trying to do is don't let owners that rent the plot to modify any flag settings. But I want to let them build and use containers and doors and stuff like that. Also I want them to be protected from any dangers such as creepers and zombies and chest protection and doors too so other people can't come in. And land modification from outsiders shouldn't be allowed.
Any ideas on how to setup that up properly?

Posted Aug 18, 2012Awesome. I could definitely do that, thank you TOOTHPICK. I'm currently trying to learn how to use Permissions and set it up for my server and didn't even think of that. My brain must be fried at the moment. Thanks alot!
