Residence

About
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.

Because if I put a build on the comments, I will have to support it and any bugs, while it is in the tickets, it is considered unofficial and such I will not be responsible for any problems, or adding in support for new minecraft things. I do not officially release builds until craftbukkit is at least beta

Seriously people, learn to read...
Everyone who is complaining about this plugin not being updated to 1.4.4, please post a ticket. No developers use commenting for ticket management, it is far too complicated.

Well considering the ticket is where I was told there was a problem with Residence in 1.4.4, that is where I put the fix, as I am always willing to help when people ask in the correct manner. In fact had it not been asked in a ticket I would not have released a build at all, as I do not release a build until a beta, but in this particular case I gave him a private unsupported build for the new version, and such since it is in the tickets section I am under no obligation to provide support for it in the case that changes in the newer dev builds of CraftBukkit break it again. When and only when there is at least a beta build out of CraftBukkit will I release a build on the main residence page.

I apologize for offending you, sincerely. I get that this is a big issue for you, and I'll just have to remember your idiosyncrasies in the future.
Personally, I think tickets are for handling issues, not managing dev releases. Certainly though you can use the ticket system however you feel is appropriate.
By the way, I did find the update on my own, I was just coming off a bad day and I felt like I was being treated like a child. Again, I apologize for being offensive.

This plugin has been around for a long time, and when people need help, they generally don't follow the basic guidelines for help. Most paste in full stack traces, "WHY NO WORK" and don't follow the basics. We don't mind answering questions, it's when people don't take any time at all, it tends to add up fast.
Before I got the ticket system cleaned up, and the forums, it was in a mess. Now that it's very easy to know where to get help, we also know where to go to answer current questions. I typically don't read the comments as it usually doesn't pertain to an issue with the plugin.
I agree with tooth's choice, I don't think it's too much to ask that if people do have an issue, check the tickets. If there's an open one, it means not only is it a known problem, but there may at least be a temporary solution already available.
EDIT (Continuation)
Keep in mind, since there is no true build of CB yet available for 1.4.4 (and Residence mainly updates for beta cb builds and up) To expect a 1.4.4 initial update to be released is idiotic. Toothpick did it on his own, to make it available for developmental purposes. If people want experimental builds, the risk is on them and there are NO guarantees that it will work, and it could even cause problems. We like to make sure that all dev builds are available to the public (through github) and not the build server directly. Since the build server was down, Toothpick took the initiative! If you are updating a production server with a dev cb build, best of luck to you, but it's not on us!

@xclucky
I hear you, and I appreciate the fix... Still, if you have a fix, hiding it doesn't really help anyone. I get that people are ungrateful, but what is new about that? :P There are plenty of us who are willing to go the distance to get updates and sincerely appreciate the effort it takes to maintain a plugin, but making it harder than necessary is purely being vindictive.

I look forward to the day that there is an official API, as craftbukkit is technically a "hack". An official API should mean easier updates, when there are updates needed. Beyond that xclucky, thanks for the understanding! I'm not able to help at the moment, but I do my best to at least make sure the build server keeps on kickin'. (It's a small role, but it makes life easier). When I get the chance after finals, I'll be rebuilding it, cleaning house, and mavenizing it up! (as per a few dev requests).

Thank you for the rush delivery of the updates. I wish Minecraft would make clients work for lower server versions, that way we all wouldn't have to rush each other :( But thank you again for providing an update so quickly.

Honestly if I wasn't such a nice guy I would've waited for a recommended build of 1.4.4 before fixing Residence, as I don't update my own server until then.

Thank you. I have appreciated the work you all have put into this plugin since I got it long ago. Sadly, the rest of humanity doesn't feel the same way... :(

And there are people like us who get our inbox spammed. It's not a dick move, it's a "hey! we've setup a way to help us, help you! USE IT." You may need to fix your server, but that doesn't mean you can't go about it the CORRECT WAY. Stack traces are generally spammed, and quickly deleted. If there isn't a ticket for your issue, create one, and we'll get to it as we can. As you may not be aware, we too have busy lives (just like you) and helping with bukkit dev isn't a job, we do it because we want to (not because we have to). You can take the whole 10 seconds of your time and click "TICKETS" at the top :)
People are so ungrateful these days..

From one dev to another, that's kind of a dick move.
There are people like me who come home from a full time job and grad school and really just need to fix their server, and could really use a nice red title that says "here is your problem bro".
