Hello everybody,
This is Tobias aka Phoenix, the developer of this project. I am sad to inform you that RegionForSale, just like the Bukkit project, is pretty much dead nowadays. I do not like the fact that Minecraft is owned by Microsoft and, even though I respect the company, I cannot see how the spirit of Minecraft fits in there at all. Shame on you for selling, Notch! I do not care about the money involved. But this game, no matter how much profit it generates, belongs into the hands of loving, independent developers (Just like Bukkit – love you guys). My opinion. To be fair: My interest shifted in general as well. So overall, I am not willing to work on this project for free anymore.
Q: What about security updates / bugfixes?
A: I will do my best to still fix those and upload a new version for you. I do not want to let you down.
Q: Will you continue if I donate xx dollar?
A: Probably not. Please try to estimate the time I spend and apply a horrific minimal wage – I am sure you still do not want to pay that. Yes, it’s quite some time.
I still want to thank you very much for the few donations I received up to this point. Developing was fun and I was so very euphoric when I received my first donation. I still remember quite well. Not to forget about the many supportive comments and “thank you”s I received despite the money.
Sincerely,
Phoenix_IV

Updating
RegionForSale provides an automatic update checker to let you get informed as soon as a new version is available. If you do not want to use this feature you can set check_for_updates to false in the general.yml config file.
Todo
- Quick-set options on signs
- Give users, who rented a region, the possibility to buy it (without unrenting + possible rebuilding). The other way round would be retarded - Tell me if you don't think so.
- Auto-updater for minor updates (?)
Before writing a comment
If you want to report a bug or suggest a new feature, please create a ticket instead. These are the reasons why:
- You will always see the status of your request
- Others can easily see if something was already requested
- The discussion about it is separated from other comments
- Your request can't be simply overlooked or forgotten

Yeah, i guess you're right about multiple owners thing. It's more likely, say, 2 friends will buy separate homes than live in the same one any way. Could prove useful to implement once you clear out your todo list though
Awesome then. Will be waiting for the update. Plugin is brilliant as it is right now. Still geting used to the parent/normal region types though. I experienced some weird behaviors when trying to copy flags to normal regions manually in the world guard's regions.yml. After I did the edit, regions lost their parent or normal status so I had to reset them. I was probably doing something wrong though since I made it work in the end.

Two ore more owners at the same time:
Do not expect it to happen. Interesting idea, but it's a rather unique request and might not be worth it. But if the region owner has to handle the payments (e.g. collect money from members) it's not that much work and your server admins do not have to deal with it.
Resetting regions:
Possible & is on my Todo list, but I cannot say when it will be available.

Well if one owner couldn't pay anymore, all the expenses should go to the other owner and on the other hand, if one owner, like you said, simply gave up ownership without the other noticing, well, that would be plain douchebagery and not really my concern. It may be possible for other owners to get notices if one of thm abandons ownership or something? That's how it could work but I guess adding members is also fine for now.
I have a truck load of pre-built houses in 3 capital towns on my server which are for players to buy and all of them match the city's overall construction style so the idea is for players to buy and live in the home's as they are, buuut since peeps tend to lave the property's in a not-so-clean condition once they stop owning a plot, I went with the idea of regenerating regions to the pre-purchased state. I guess it could work if the plugin stored the blocks data in that region and kept the data until the property was disowned. I'm not personally into programming, but there you go my idea.

I created a ticket for this (easier to handle, read advice above).

Posted Jul 7, 2013Ok, I downgraded to recommended build 1.5.2-R1.0. Nothing. It still does not appear in console and doesn't create a folder. Like I said, this has been happening for a while.

Please retry with CraftBukkit 1.5.2 recommended build and check if "some plugins" includes RegionForSale.
@Bubily
No, the players have to share the costs themselves. The owner can
//rg addmemberthe other player.What would happen if one of the co-owners cannot pay anymore? What if one of the co-owners suddenly decides to give up his ownership and all the costs go to the remaining one and he doesn't notice? The best way to share a region is to have one main owner and members who can throw in money, I would say.
So that when sold the region looks exactly the same as before? It's not possible now, but it will be in the future. But I cannot say how long it will take. I don't know a plugin which hooks up into RegionForSale and does this for you :/
As an alternative: You might have already seen the rebuild-features that are already included. You cannot create very complicated structures with it, but it might be enough.

Posted Jul 7, 2013I was wondering is there a way for 2 or more players to own a purchased/rented region and with that maybe share the taxing cost?
Also, is there a way to set up a, let's say a house in a town, to automatically regenerate to it's original pre-owned state if a player decides to sell it after purchasing it if he made some changes to the place in the meantime (changed blocks and what not). If not, is there possibly a plugin that would do that and could work with RegionForSale in that way?

Posted Jul 6, 2013I am using a dev build, but this was happening before I updated to 1.6. Sone plugins would not start or appear in the console. (I was using beta 1.5.2)

RegionForSale would tell you if there is a problem with Vault. CraftBukkit version? Development builds of Bukkit are not supported! (e.g. the new 1.6.1 versions)

Posted Jul 5, 2013The plugin does not appear in the console on start up and will not create a folder. This is not the only plugin that does this. There are a few others that have the same problem. I think it may have something to do with vault, because a couple other plugins that have the same problem require vault. Any one know how to fix this? Thanks

For people following this conversation: This was discussed via PM and it turned out that the server seems to be using an entirely new, unsupported and plugin-breaking Bukkit 1.6.1 development version. However, the problem about setting the regions up with the right priorities might still be recent.

Are there any previous error-outputs? Please try to set up a test-server with only the required plugins installed. I've never heard of something like this before.

WorldGuard is up to date, and it's just the plot regions that get removed.

The more important issue first:
Does that happen every time you restart the server? Please check if the WorldGuard regions still exist after the restart. Please check if WorldGuard is up to date and is enabled before RegionForSale.

Thanks! But also, what am I doing wrong here, I want "mall", the parent-region to not be able to be edited by players, like the walkways and stuff, but if I set mall to build deny, people can't build in their plots. If I set it to build allow they can destroy everything. And I also get this error in my console when I restart the server, then all the signs get disconnected: 2013-07-03 10:08:12 [INFO] [RegionForSale] Loading regions for world 'world'... 2013-07-03 10:08:12 [WARNING] [RegionForSale] Region 'rg1' isn't a WorldGuardRegion (anymore) -> removed 2013-07-03 10:08:12 [WARNING] [RegionForSale] Region 'rg2' isn't a WorldGuardRegion (anymore) -> removed 2013-07-03 10:08:12 [WARNING] [RegionForSale] Region 'rg3' isn't a WorldGuardRegion (anymore) -> removed 2013-07-03 10:08:12 [WARNING] [RegionForSale] Region 'rg4' isn't a WorldGuardRegion

Example for the block-based (not rebuild+) rebuilding:
//rg select <region>(works also for parent-regions).//rg set rebuild-block-id <block>('block' can also be a name)To add rebuild+ functions:
//region set rebuild-operations + <operation...>To remove rebuild+ functions:
//region set rebuild-operations - <operation...>-

Yeah, I didn't have the time to write this since the update, sorry. These are the permission nodes:
regionforsale.locate.*
Locate any region.
regionforsale.locate.own
Locate regions you own.
regionforsale.locate.member
Locate regions you are a member of.
regionforsale.locate.free
Locate free regions (that are part of RegionForSale)
