    What is the issue?
    Is it possible to use a backpack in the crafting recipe of another backpack?
    We were hoping to be able to use a pre-existing backpack in a recipe to create an upgraded version of it.

    Please provide any additional information below.

    No, but it could be added. It's tricky though since Minecraft recipes only take materials and not ItemStacks.

    I think it would be neat to be able to do that, though I am unsure how you'd indicate a custom backpack in the recipe the way it is setup in the config.

    Though it would give the feel of "enchantment" to the backpack on an 'upgrading' level that way. We were just thinking something simple, an existing backpack in the center surrounded by nether stars >:P That would make it more expensive to create than just a slightly different recipe than the original. xD

    Make fake item stacks by creating custom recipes. 3x3 blocks of coal -> Block of Coal Lore: 9 Blocks

    Then use the Lore'd Coal block for the piece of the recipe since its a single item.
