Population Density
Automatically places new players where they can find wood, animals, ore, and space to build. Also priority-based login queue, reserved slots for admins, idle boot ONLY when nearly full, entity thinning for lag reduction, and optional limited teleportation. Never again will your players experience a marathon run, spawn room full of portals, or maze of abandoned builds. This is a zero maintenance solution for administrators, and players don't need to learn any commands!

This video explains the region post system to new players.
See below for information on administrative features.
Feature Summary
- Assigns starting points for new players so that they can ALWAYS find space to build and beginner resources nearby. Players may be spawned directly there, or you can tell them about a slash command which will take them there.
- Respawns animals, regrows grass, and replants trees in the new player area to guarantee important new player resources.
- Removes idle players ONLY when the server is nearly full.
- Login queue to ensure fairness when your server is full, can prioritize some players over others if you like.
- Reserved slots for administrators.
- Optional teleportation posts which help players socialize and trade, but aren't abuse-able to escape combat or save a lost or hungry player.
- "Thins" extremely-dense crowds of monsters and animals, preventing ridiculous levels of farming or monster grinding from lagging your server.
Overview
Server owners often underestimate the badness in starting a player in a crowded area. Sure seeing builds makes your server look legitimate, but having to explore a long time just to find space to build and beginner resources is a major turn off for players who want to start playing right away. Even when players do find a place to start playing, they're often alone because other new players wandered into different areas.
PopulationDensity is the low-maintenance, easy-for-players answer to all these problems.
It works by automatically locating a region with lots of wood and ore, and then dropping new players in that region until they collect most of the easily accessible ore, cut down most of the trees, or crowd it with builds. Then PopulationDensity finds a new resource-wealthy region for future newbies and starts dropping new players there. If you have a great spawn area built up, you can instead spawn players there, and later tell them to use /HomeRegion when they're ready to start adventuring (or another command you define in commands.yml).
Additionally, optional teleportation commands help players move around quickly to admire builds and socialize while not compromising the game's integrity - players can only teleport from automatically-placed teleportation posts, so teleportation can't be used as an "easy-out" for players who mine or adventure themselves into trouble. That way, players keep the challenge of single player without the "players are too far apart" multiplayer issue.
Finally, if you have a "my server is always full" problem, then congratulations on your successful server! :) With PopulationDensity, you may optionally boot players who are idling so more players can log in and have fun, increasing your feel-good factor (or fattening your wallet, for some). when the server IS full, a login queue guarantees fairness, and administrative slots are set aside to guarantee administrators can always get in.
You can also assign players a queue priority to help them get on the server faster during peak times, to reward them for contributing to the server monetarily or through your community.

Posted Apr 10, 2013So how do I stop players from spawning in a random spot of my spawn? Because that's where an outpost spawned in the previous version.

I really like this plugin and I could not wait until the update was their xD and finally; their is the update and it's good to hear that you're a little better :)

Todays Tuesday? and I am uploading it now :)
Edit: Use at your own risk, I do not recommend using it until bukkit has approved though.
The build should fix Region Posts spawning on their own, ( a lot of you complained about this ) they will now only spawn upon using the command /movein , which is a good thing, since why would you need a region post if you already have one :)
Also the Login Que should be working, now please, I've fixed this once, and it broke once, and I refixed it this time, I've personally tested on a test server of my own with 10 of my friends and having the "Population" cap at 9, and the que worked perfectly. Please do report any other bugs you may find or see.
I am also sorry for the late release, I would've had this released a long long time ago, but I've been in and out of the hospital due to having 3 sickness at once. If you wish to know on my condition, I am doing fine, I just have the flu, mono, and strep all at once, and oddly enough the sickness's are working together, meaning Mono is putting a protective covering over the strep and strep is putting one over flu being very hard to deal with using medications, but I should be all better in 3 weeks :) I'll have a bug fix build released in a week if any are found.
Edit 2: If you are wanting to literally just remove the region post in the region, feel free to actually remove the blocks of the region post via an admin and the region will still work fine :)
Also, I will try and have the tekkit build out tomorrow, I have barely been able to look into it.
Edit 3: I also made the region sizes much bigger, It's not like a substantial amount bigger, but It'll be good enough for you to not have region post problems whatsoever.
Edit 4: Will be pushing another update in a few hours updating the text and what not for the plugin, giving it a more seamlessly easy understanding :)

Of course I understand that. The only thing I hope is that the problem with all that 'poles' is solved, because that really does a lot of damage to projects on my server (they just spawned really in projects, and of course their was damage because of that ;) )

Oh-wow, that is a completely unrelated build in which I had no clue was on here. xD well, it seems the ETA on the update will be pushed back a bit for a few reasons.
1. I've been still going to the hospital, and barely can get any coding done whatsoever. 2. The new build in which I was just notified, ( aka the Tekkit build ) needs to be updated as-well,
To Everyone, I am sincerely sorry for the away of not being able to push this single build out, there has been a few problems in it which I have been trying to fix, whilst implementing the things in which you all have posted below and me going in and out of the hospital has taken a toll on me, I promise to upload a new build Tuesday April 9th, 2013. It'll contain a majority of implementations and a lot of bug fixes. The tekkit build will be released a few days afterwards.
Again, I am sincerely sorry for the away time on the project.

Posted Apr 7, 2013Hello. I asked a while ago for a version of PopulationDensity that worked with Tekkit. I was given this: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/population-density/files/53-3-7-0-1/
I've gotta say it's working well. It's making lovely areas. The problem is, it only seems to be assigned people to ONE of the made regions (mountains). We've had about 35 people join since we regenerated our world, and they've all been assigned to that region.
Is it meant to be this many in one region, or is it a bug with the plugin?
Thanks for any support -Daniel

Posted Apr 4, 2013An outpost 'spawned' in my spawn city. I obviously don't want that. How do I remove that or how do I avoid this happening again in the future?
When's the ETA of your update?

Posted Apr 2, 2013There are region 'poles' that just for example spawn in the garden of someone, and that's really annoying. An example: http://imageshack.us/a/img145/7992/20130327163011.png Do you know how I can stop this? My server is 1.5 and I use PopulationDensity V3.7.4.

Posted Apr 1, 2013Does it work with multiple worlds, I run Multiverse and would like it to manage build1 and build2 but not spawn or my sg arena worlds. Ive tried a few common formats for managed-world but to me it doesn't look like it supports multiple worlds???
thanks

Hmm, a few people have been coming to me over this problem, but I have no idea what the problem is tbh, Some players have it working fine, and some don't. I know it works for me when I set my server to a limit.
also to everyone else, I am sorry for not being here much,
I've been in the hospital and really haven't been feeling well, Anyhow I'll be pushing a fix up update soon! So d/w :DDD

Posted Mar 24, 2013For some reason, my login queue has never, ever worked. It's enabled in the config but when players try to join the full server, it just tells them the server is full; that is all.
Any idea why? (I know it works as I've seen it in action on another server about 2 days ago.)
Thanks.

Posted Mar 22, 2013PLEEEEEASE add a command to delete existing region posts. I made a world in Singleplayer, then loaded to MP. Well there was a region post in the middle of my house that replaced lots of blocks with the post. I want to get rid of it.
