OtherDrops

Make anything drop anything, anyhow!

OtherDrops allows you to add anything from a simple "glass drops glass" or mob rewards, to a complex overhaul of your servers drops with drops differing depending on tools, biome, time, weather and much more, along with custom messages, actions and commands.
OtherDrops is lightweight* (it only acts on what you configure) and respects most protection plugins (eg. WorldGuard, Regios) settings. Many examples are included that you can enable and/or customize as you wish.

Conditions
- Multi-world support - create separate files to handle each world
- Add super rare drops with chance values down to 0.000000001%
- Specify tools required (or a list of tools eg. [any sword, -diamond sword])
- Lorename, Heroes (class & level) conditions
- Cooldowns
Actions
- Apply actions alongside the drop (or even without a drop)
- Damage tools and/or consume items (eg. use dyes to color wool)
- Damage or heal the victim, player or even the whole world
- Apply potion effects to the victim, player, radius, world or server
- Display custom messages (or a list of messages with one selected at random)
- Create explosions, lightning, visual effects (including particles), sound effects
- Run commands
Ideas
- Give leaves various chances of dropping apples, sticks, cocoa beans, saplings, etc on break and/or leaf decay.
- Make glass, stairs, and boats reclaimable (can be tool-specific if you wish).
- Allow gold and iron to be mined directly into ingots with a golden pickaxe.
- Allow users to right-click on cobblestone with vines in hand to turn the cobblestone mossy.
- Nerf mob traps by disabling drops from environmental damage.
- Unleash the zombie apocalypse by setting zombies to drop zombies when they die! (This can be world-specific.)
- Make mobs that don't normally spawn naturally spawn.
- Make mob spawning, drops, and events biome specific!

Dev Builds
Development builds of this project can be acquired at the provided continuous integration server. These builds have not been approved by the BukkitDev staff. Use them at your own risk.
Help Wanted
Would you like to help improve OtherDrops? Here are some ways to get involved:
- Media/art: OtherDrops could really do with some tutorial and example videos.
- Testers: Testers who are able to go through the plugin and rigorously check that things (both existing and new features) work as they should. PM Zarius your Skype (or other IM) details if you're interested or jump on the IRC channel.
- Programming: any assistance is welcomed - see the todo list here for some ideas. Anyone with refactoring and/or automated testing experience that wants to assist would be great.

The explosion activates, but I cannot get the zombies affected by the explosion to drop anything. Any idea? When I disable the explosion, the drop works (PROJECTILE_ARROW).. so for some reason, whatever is actually killing the zombie isn't listed in my tool section. any idea what that might be?

Not possible with OtherDrops but I can't see why it couldn't be done - perhaps someone knows of a plugin that already does it, otherwise I'd recommend the plugin request forum :)

Thanks - glad you're liking it :) I hope to be able to build more control into it soon, for example enabling & disabling custom config files. This could be useful for eg. halloween events or just mucking with players by temporarily making leaves drop spiders :D

Regarding XP %'s - this is something I've considered but trickier to implement in an easy & generalistic manner (XP/20% wouldn't work for example as it would get confused with chance values). It's definitely worth adding a ticket for so I can think about it more.

Any chance you guys know of a way to make it so arrows disappear after they hit the ground? In my server they are reskinned as shotgun shells, and it doesn't fit the the theme if they are re-usable.

It's a good idea you have there, but I don't believe it's possible, as OtherDrops (currently) doesn't have a way to check how much xp a player has. You should make a ticket for that though. Currently, you can only specify xp drops as something like "drop: XP/10", but extending the functionality to players so that you can specify something like "drop: XP/20%" would be rather nifty.
An alternative is to use another plugin. As of now, I don't know any plugins off of the top of my head that would let you do exactly as you described.

Posted Feb 12, 2014I'm reading about the vanilla mechanics of experience points. It says this
"When the player dies, they drop 7 times their level as experience orbs, up to a maximum of 100 points (enough to reach level 5). All the other experience vanishes."
I know we can easily give people more than 100 exp with a drop, however, I was wondering if there was a way to drop like.. 50% of a players exp total?

Sure, using the "flags: UNIQUE" can work. But this is an even better way to do it. :)
You can essentially treat a whole group of drops as a single drop with "outcome variance", depending on the drops you define within the single drop-group. It's basically drops within drops. You can even have drops within drops within drops, and so on. Just don't confuse yourself in the end (self-documentation helps). :)
And ask all the questions you want. If I get stumped (or screw up, which happens fairly often), then ZariusT/Faldonboy can
cover my ass; I mean, correct me.To reply to two points ZariusT has replied to; on your "identify if victim was carrying 'x' item in either hand or inventory" idea, it's a pretty good idea, and you should make a ticket for it. I can think of many player-interactive triggers you can make from this (e.g. if someone has TNT in their inventory, and they die by fire, they explode, or have a chance of explosion).
On your "snowball slows victims" idea, you should try testing it on a normal CraftBukkit server before you point out an issue you're having; it's never a good idea to test things on "platforms that are more unstable", if that makes any sense (not implying BukkitForge is inherently unstable). If the issue persists on a normal CraftBukkit server with only OtherDrops running (and only OtherDrops), then the issue is most likely OtherDrops. Then, it would be quite nice if you could file a ticket with as much relevant information as possible.

Is there a way to make it so only one of the drops activate? I.e. if a flaming sword drops, no way of getting any others as well? (with this format)

1) Yes, that config should stop the zombie's dropping zombie flesh for those with the "otherdrops.custom.vip" permission. Do you have a test server you could try turning off all zombie drops on? Eg.
If that doesn't work we can investigate from there.
2) No, I don't believe we currently detect the object the victim is holding (only the attacker, via "tool").
3) Hmm, looks ok at first glance, I'll have to test it - could be an issue with BukkitForge as you've mentioned, due to time-constraints I only test against vanilla Bukkit.

How do I make Zombie's stop dropping flesh? I currently have something similar to this.. The spacing might be off in the quote, but it's 100% fine in my file. The other drops work fine (sticks/stone), but they still drop a lot of Zombie Flesh. I reckoned the drop: NOTHING would stop it's default drop then it would continue with the other drops. Thanks in advance
Another question. Is it possible to give a command when a player dies and drops a particular item. Specifically, if a player died while having a diamond in the their inventory, is there a way to make that trigger a message?
And Finally, this actually doesnt seem to work either.. any ideas? Only plugins: PermissionsEx, WorldGaurd, and Worldedit.
The only thing I can think of, is BukkitForge (or whatever it is) or some Mod has altered potion effects? Does that sound like a plausible reason for it not working?

Uh, I gotta stop posting when I'm multitasking. No, your configuration looks correct. I'm sorry if I misinformed you in any way. And my previous comment sounded a bit harsh, so sorry about that too.
It's just that when I saw the "except" (I forgot you could specify "ANYBLOCK except []") and the numbers (like "1."), it kind of threw me off and I thought of something else. But just disregard some of what I said in my previous comment.
Hopefully I wasn't multitasking when I wrote this comment either. ;)

Posted Feb 9, 2014CommodoreAlpha. I truly appreciate the quick response. I reinstalled my whole server last night and it finally fixed the problem.. so it had nothing to do with OtherDrops, I narrowed the problem down to either MCPC+ or some mod within FTB direwolf20. But that's fixed now :)
Matter of fact, OtherDrops is working flawlessly now. -Best- plugin i've ever used.
Question though, you said parts of my config looked like it was in english, not in 'code'. Can you point out what part you're talking about so I can fix it? I read through the documents heavily last night (and still am consulting them) and that's where I got most of these ideas/code.
Edit: The line that says otherdrops.custom.vip.. that originally had a "#" before it, it's supposed to be a comment to remind me to add permissions (when I install a permissions plugin)

At least you spaced out your lines, but you should try using the
<<code yaml>>InsertConfigHere<</code>>format. For more information, click the "Click here for details" hyperlink you see at the bottom of comment box which appears whenever you try to make a comment. (Located near "Markup Type")First of all, the plugin doesn't read English. It reads configuration. So if you didn't read some of the documentation, which you probably should have, start there. If you did read it... well, I'm not sure why you're just making up your own format all of a sudden; stick with the configuration format. If the documentation is too confusing, you can ask, and I'll link you to the important pages. ;)
Now onto your request. First, are you testing this on a testing server running only, and only OtherDrops? It could be another plugin causing your issues. Second, I don't see anything else you posted that would be interfering with the "replace all mobs with zombies" goal. As long as you have this:
You should achieve your desired result, because the original mob will be canceled and the zombie will spawn in its place. The caveat here, is that I don't know if "NOTHING" also cancels out mobs spawning, as opposed to item-spawning. You could also try using "DENY" in place of "NOTHING" to see if it'll work.

I think you would have to set "loot_overrides_default" to true, and try replicating all the "vanilla drops" minus enchanted tools for all mobs that are capable of dropping enchanted items. The reason is that "DEFAULT" also includes enchanted items, and there's really no way you can do something as easy as "[DEFAULT, -ENCHANTED_TOOL]".

Hello everyone. I have found this plugin and it appears to be exactly what I want/need for the server I'm making. I've gone through hell tonight. Mobs stopped spawning completely until I completely reinstalled my server. Now they are spawning again like wildfire, but they are all mobs.. not just zombies. It appears as if one of the other Drops in my config are preventing all creatures from spawning as zombies.. Any ideas?
