Movecraft
NOW MOVED TO SPIGOTMC, CHECK HERE FOR NEWER VERSIONS:
https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/movecraft.31321/

A Brief Description
Movecraft is a plugin that has been designed to give purpose to those extremely large (and awesome) oceans as well as to simply give the option to Sail, Drive, or Pilot amazing Ships, Creations, or Zeppelins. It allows the player and/or players to craft Vessels out of blocks that can be piloted and thus moved. Hence the name MoveCraft.
Credit
Movecraft was first created by Yogoda for hMod.
Movecraft 3 is a complete recode. It's only similarity to the Movecraft of Yogada is it's name.
Documentation, Tutorials, Quick Start Guide, and Demo Videos

Craft Options
- Basic craft configuration options including size, speed, allowed block types, required blocks, etc
- Customizable Cruise Control to keep the craft moving forward
- Customizable Fuel Burning behavior

Permissions
Movecraft uses the following permissions:
movecraft.<craft name>.pilot
movecraft.<craft name>.move
movecraft.<craft name>.rotate
movecraft.<craft name>.repair
For example, if you have a craft named "Airship", you would need movecraft.Airship.pilot, movecraft.Airship.move, and movecraft.Airship.rotate in order to completely use it.
There is also:
movecraft.<craft name>.create - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.cruisesign - only required if RequireCreatePerm is set to true in config.yml
movecraft.commands - grants access to /pilot, /cruise, /release, /rotateleft, /rotateright, /craftreport
You can also control these granularly with:
movecraft.commands.release
movecraft.commands.pilot
movecraft.commands.rotateleft
movecraft.commands.rotateright
movecraft.commands.cruise
movecraft.commands.craftreport
Dependencies
Movecraft does not require any other plugin to function, however certain features require additional plugins:
WorldEdit (>6.0) - For repair system
Vault - For payment system
In addition, the following plugins are supported for compatibility:
Cannons - Cannons will move with a piloted craft
WorldGuard - Region protection
Most common permission plugins - Assign permissions to various craft features

Posted Dec 19, 2012Hi there! I'm using the awesome TrainCarts plugin and moveCraft together. But, They don't wan't to work out together. The most important command in TrainCarts is /train but it looks like movecraft has the highest priority on that command. Is there a way to disable the movecraft trains?. If you release the source i could do it in that way. Thanks

Unfortunately this version of MoveCraft is not as functional as the previous version. The only real way to do this is to go in and alter the code then recompile the plugin, though with some of the improvements I would think that waiting for the new version and dealing with this one in the mean time would be a wiser and safer decision.

Any experienced administrators who know what they are doing and have movecraft working on their server please contact me. email me at ariodsenuke@gmail.com

Posted Dec 16, 2012I would suggest doing a per-world permission setup. This will allow more control on not just movecraft but other plugins as well.
An interesting side note you may like on this as well, we set "key" blocks to make vehicles require approval. I set this up by making the required fly block one that users can not normally get their hands on and can destroy, then set the requirement to 0.1% to make it so every so many blocks big an added key is needed so that we don't get people turning a little run about to a huge battleship.
This was an interesting discovery as the needed fly block just dictates it cant be started with out that item, so its able to lock down cars, boats, subs, drills etc.
Now on more dangerous ships such as Bombers we made the needed block a command block which is not obtainable by users and if they mess up its very easy to break even by the ships own bombs. We also add the key for the aircraft as well so if they do mess up they can at least fly it home for repairs and get reapproval from the admins to enable its bomber status again.
The keys I use are :
End Portal Frame - standard ships/boats/aircraft/subs/drills
Command Block - Bombers/Oversized variants of the above craft
Hope this helps out a bit with your administration needs ^_^

Posted Dec 15, 2012Wonderful though this may be, the lack of decent walkthroughs makes it very prohibitive to use.

Posted Dec 13, 2012Someone should make an updated light version. More than anything else I would really like to see a medium sized boat with a chest or two, and maybe a bed on board.
Imagine if you could stock up with food and supplies and sail over huge oceans with a couple of people and colonise new land. That coupled with the huge Earth map would be the best.

Posted Dec 13, 2012Release does seem a bit overdue @AJCStriker Don't hide your light under a bushel.
Is there any chance the new Movecraft 2 will be released by Xmas?
I'd like to give it a try before we get MC 1.5...

Posted Dec 8, 2012If there is another coder that wants to pick it up (I don't have time at the moment) I have been looking at the java in the jar file. The max height is a single number in a java file that can be changed as long as you recompile the class file it shouldn't be hard to re-implement some of the smaller stuff as it is already there and other parts just need numbers changed.

This is hands down my favourite plugin, but as someone whose been patiently waiting all year, I'm not sure there's much point in holding out hope at this stage. For whatever reason Movecraft2 is being developed for one server only and Movecraft1 is essentially parked. Unless someone decides to develop another version independently (Ships and Autocraft seem great at what they do, but each fill a different niche) our only choice is to stick with the limited old versions (128y restricted, no chests, etc) and hope they don't break entirely.

Posted Nov 28, 2012permissions seem seriously broken now..
in latest bpermissions and latest everything else, assign these perms to default, and they cannot /aircraft pilot
- movecraft.movecraft.list
- movecraft.movecraft.types
- movecraft.aircraft.info
- movecraft.aircraft.setname
- movecraft.aircraft.size
- movecraft.aircraft
- movecraft.aircraft.release
- movecraft.aircraft.pilot
- movecraft.aircraft.remote
- movecraft.aircraft.turn
- movecraft.aircraft.turn.left
- movecraft.aircraft.turn.right
- movecraft.aircraft.turn.around
Edit: appears part of the issue is the default option in the xml file "ops only" "true"; otherwise plugin still working as of 1.4.5 R0.2

Posted Nov 26, 2012ace_334 - ironically the old movecraft had an option to consume fuel, that required a furnace on a craft... it appears this current movecraft shares none of the old code.
Seems any sort of block that holds items is now unsupported.
On another topic, I presume all this rush to make plugins into API's relates to some planned changes in vanilla to replace bukkit by supporting plugin api's?
If this is so, it might be worth seeing if the same code that makes gravel/sand blocks fall could be exploited to make them move sideways (a simple x/y swap) giving much smoother looking movecraft animation. Or even using the rendering code that pistons use when you push a block to fill the sub-frames. This could give a much more realistic motion.
At the moment it appears to use some sort of worldedit style cut/paste method to move vehicles, as it shares all the bugs of worldedit in that regard.
