Minecraft: The Last Airbender is a Minecraft plugin for a Bukkit server. It is designed for Survival Multiplayer, and allows players to choose an element to bend as the benders do in the world of Avatar (the stage of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel The Legend of Korra).
Some quick notes: I will warn you that you will not be able to do everything they do in the show. There are limitations both in Minecraft and in Bukkit that prevent such extravagance. In the details of each discipline you can see exactly what you can do. As such, the description of the bending disciplines is a little altered to reflect their role in the world of Minecraft: The Last Airbender.
Features
- Play as a bender and choose which type you would like to be.
- Battle other users and see who is the best of the best.
- Compatible with WorldGuard, Factions, PreciousStones, GriefPrevention, and CreeperHeal. (Many more plugins will be added to this list)
- Nothing is required client-side
- Permissions support!
Bending
Users may bend water, earth, fire, air, or can go with being a chiblocker.. You may pick which type of bender you would like to be with the command: /bending choose [water/air/earth/fire/chi]. You may only choose one, with the exception of the Avatar, and you may never change it so be careful in your decision.
Waterbending
- Specializes in maneuverability in and on the water.
- Oceans are perfect for water benders.
- Techniques range from shooting water that do damage, freezing lakes, or even pushing enemies back with powerful waves.
- This bending style is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Water bending opens up many options in bodies of water that are otherwise closed to the other disciplines.
Earthbending
- Specializes in manipulating the earth around them.
- Any area which contains land is perfect for earth benders.
- They have the abilities to pull columns straight up from the earth, drill their way through any mountain and launch themselves through the air.
- This bending style, like water bending, is a mixture of offensive and defensive.
- Earth benders do not take fall damage as long as they land on the ground.
Firebending
- Specializes on destruction and incineration.
- Any environment, besides on any bodies of water, is perfect for them.
- They may create rings of fire on the ground, shoot lines of fire, and even create exploding fireballs.
- This bending style is pure offensive, and very little mobility/defense.
- Fireball is the only ability they may use that does not require any solid ground beneath them.
Airbending
- Specializes in mobility & defense.
- The land is the ideal place for airbenders, although they may also bend over the water.
- Bending air allows you to use wind to blast things away, forming a shield of air around you, or using a tornado to lift you, or your opponent, off of their feet.
- This bending style is perfect for pacifists and explorers for they lack any raw damage output, but make up for it with their utility and speed.
- Choosing air as your element increases your overall speed, decreases the rate of hunger and disables fall damage.
Chi Blocking
- Specializes in bare handed combat.
- Move faster, jump higher, take less fall damage.
- Can block someones chi, stopping them from Bending for a short period of time.
- Abilities range from Higher Jumps, Faster Punches, and Paralysis of enemies.
HELP! It's not working!
This is a Bukkit plugin, not a single player mod. It will never be a single player mod. Go to the Bukkit Wiki to set up your own server. You can play on it just like you would single player, and it requires nothing more than setting it up.
If anything is not working, look around for a development build of Bending.
Development progress
School has picked back up, so plugin development will be very intermittent at best. I've done away with the ordered releases, and will most likely be keeping 1.0.7 the "official" version until I release it as 1.1.0. It's a jump, I know, but if I were forced to stick to a schedule, the plugin would never get done. This is because there are things I like coding and want to code now, and I shouldn't have to wait just because I have something else planned for the version.
As such, there is no ETA on the release. The dev build will of course be updated as I add features, but 1.1.0 will only be officially released when everything is completed, and that could take a very long time.

Posted Mar 29, 2013IS there any way to let tremorsense give an option to the player so he can see people with an invisibility potion effect? Or is this not possible with bukkit? Thanks!

Donations are not for that. I don't accept "bribes" or "payments". Donate if you want to show your appreciation for what I've already done in a different way. Do not donate to get me to do something, or in return for something. It's not called a "donation" then.
Regardless, I'll probably do this since there's an analog to the /bending choose command.
@ashplayer
It's funny because it's like you didn't even read 2 paragraphs into my last comment, a whole two comments before yours.
@biowaier
Dragonbreath - how is that different from Blaze or Fireburst directed in a cone?
RideableEarth - I like this idea, but of course I've already thought about it and tried looking into it. It would pretty much simply not work with the constraints of Minecraft and Bukkit.
Equliase - The mod can just /b permaremove. I don't think I'll make an op-only (or mod-only) move to do something flashy that a command can already do reliably.
Waterbending passive - They never showed this in the series and it's currently not possible with Bukkit (client-side and server-side will disagree with each other, the client will think it's drowning regardless and it gets wonky)
Airburst - That's already the case if you have AirBurst selected and fall from a high enough place...
See what I mean about these suggestions?

Posted Mar 29, 2013More bending sugesstions that hit me in the face while i was asleep:
Firebenders: DragonBreath: its pretty much a low-damage short range flamethrower/ preformed by aang, zuko, azula and many other firebenders
Earthbenders: RideableEarth: A much like catapult and airscooter, the earth propells you forward destroying small items in its path, but cannot climp up steep slopes/prefromed by toph
Chiblocker: Equalise: A MOD (a.k.a MOD) shift clicks, charges it up, and hits the user( hitting someone while shifting is pretty hard) and it unbinds all of their moves, which can get pretty annoying: Preformed by Amon
Waterbending: Passive: the amount of time you can breath underwater is increased
Airbender: Airburst: If you fall with airburst on, itll repell nearby entities.

Posted Mar 28, 2013OK, 6 pages of comments to reply to. Here we go.
Bending will update when Bukkit releases a Beta build. Currently Bukkit hasn't even stabilized for 1.5.1, so any alterations I make are just as likely to be broken as the unaltered version. That said, people are reporting that Bending isn't broken with the latest dev builds of Bukkit.
@zanisxx
Look pretty fancy? Yes. Have a functionality beyond WaterManipulation? No. And you showed one image, not the whole animation (how is it going to form, how is it going to spin, what happens when you fire it at an angle [you only displayed an ice ring that was perfectly aligned with a cardinal direction]).
@machado197328
I'll check messages, but I recall checking them originally with success. I didn't natively implement colors for such messages, so I'm not sure what's doing that. Maybe some other plugin, or some native bukkit feature I didn't know about.
You can deny permissions for /bending with denying the node "bending.command.*" I'll check sometime that these permission nodes work - but when I overhauled the command structure I thought I made it fool-proof.
@Bca1849
Waterbenders in the series did not plantbend a flat bed of grass, only tall grass and flowers. Which waterbenders can plantbend.
@soniclaw2
Read the FAQ. And places are things people build, not things for a plugin to randomly generate. If you want the Avatar world in minecraft, that's been done.
@zanisxx
I've responded about ice ring further up, so until you can address those issues I'll not worry about further talking about it.
And IceSpike isn't hard to hit - you can redirect it in flight to constantly fly after your target, just like you can with WaterManipulation.
@Makemyday17
I'm aware of the bug. It's not an easy fix, and I don't have a lot of time, but I will fix it. In the meantime, SQL seems to work better.
@almar1337
Single player mod is an FAQ.
@machado197328
I go through comment by comment each time I post, starting from the last post I made. I didn't miss your first one.
@codiaz
MySQL was originally put in for fun, yes. It has since been refined along with everything else, and MistPhizzle's statement about it is not up to date. Bending interfaces with MySQL just fine (mostly, at least better than it does with .yml right now), if you have issues it's your issue, not Bending.
@codiaz
You can instead break the cycle with shift. Or with, I dunno, using 1 of your other 8 abilities. Like Surge or RaiseEarth. Or dodge it.
It's only boring if you make it boring.
@Raycist
When I get around to it.
@Cameron13868674
Become the Avatar by giving yourself the AvatarState permission and adding all the elements you want. By default, Ops have these permissions.
@bad339
No idea the details behind that error, my first thought is some incapability between Essentials and Bending thanks to the new Bukkit dev build.
@Makemyday17
Your third post is still heard. Am I supposed to drop everything I'm doing with my life and fix this bug because of your frequent posting?
@Blaze590
EarthSurf wouldn't look nice and wouldn't provide much more than Catapult in functionality.
@codiaz
I'll check it out, though it's hard to decipher what you're saying.
@VectorCraft
Fireball was removed well before Bukkit broke it. Fireball didn't fit into the style of bending and didn't feel right. It was replaced with FireBlast, which has the ability to explode if it's charged.
@Jabayoo
Just a note - the default prepare range is not 1. I'm not sure why your config had it at that, but that is not Bending's doing.
@DaramisThompson
Tremorsense has an active ability and will eventually be toggleable with shift. Your earthbending idea is already done via RaiseEarth - you can target a person's feet with it.
Bukkit has a limited amount of particles, and last I checked potion swirls were not one of them. Plus, smoke has been used for Airbending for a while and honestly I think it fits nicely.
@monstercat101
You can still use NCP (I do), you just need to deactivate some of the fighting and flying checks. Yes, it means people can more easily hack, but it's better than nothing. Currently Bukkit makes it infuriatingly difficult/impossible to work around this.
@Makemyday17
As I said above, with careful configuration you -can- use anti-cheat plugins. Both my servers do.
@Cameron13868674
What does the server say when you do "/b a"?
@Kenner03
You mean the ability to use /b a [element] but NOT /b a [player] [element]? I could probably add that permission, but I'm not sure why...
Why would you trust someone enough to bend all the elements but you don't want them to add others' elements? Moreover, why if you have the ability to add elements only for yourself would you need to use this command more than once, ever?
It seems like whatever you'd want that for would be better with something like ServerSigns or something of that kind.

Is there any permission for /bending add [element] to work for one person only example: I gave myself that permission and I can that command only for myself.

I mean Tremorsense's glowstone shows even if it isn't selected, making it automatic. Tremorsense happens regardless if it's in the slot or not

earth: tremorsense counts for a slot and orion won't be replacing it. if anything, what you are suggesting sounds like a left click option for shockwave without a charge. idk if orion would add that. i'd guess not likely.
air: bukkit doesn't give that as an option. the ones he uses are the most suited out of the options.

I have a server for 42 man and people get IMMIDIATLY banned when my secret mods/mods/ secret admins/admins/co-owner/owner(me) see that someone is hacking, maybe try also to get more mods that can use vanish and tpo.
@orkun1675
Yep, but there are some bugs (1 of them is that you can crash a server but since noone know how this bugs work we are safe :P)

Posted Mar 27, 2013Agree with monstercat, hackers is a huge problem. Because we can't use any nocheat plugin because it isn't compatible with bending, so hackers see this as a paradise.

Posted Mar 27, 2013Is there any way to get bending more compatible with NoCheatPlus? It irks me to know that hackers can still use speed hack and forcefield. I have no idea how difficult this would be to fix, so I am sorry in advance for asking.
@DaramisThompson
I agree on the EarthBending feature.

Posted Mar 27, 2013Hey! One of my favorite plugins ever! It is awesome as it is, but i have a few request
Earthbending
Instead of Tremorsense as an ability because is automatic, do you think you can add like a move that Toph did to Aang? Where she slammed her heel on the ground and created a small wave leading to Aang and a larger Earth Column came up and hit him. That would be nice.
Airbending
My favorite of all the bending, but the smoke is throwing me off. Do you think you can change the Air particles to the little Blue Potion Swirlies? That would be awesome! I know you don't have much control over the particles but I think the Blue Swirls would fit Airbending perfectly!
Thanks for the PLUGIN!!!

Posted Mar 26, 2013Straight to the point, earthblast wont let me select a block 99% of the time and when it does work it deselects it within a second. Yes, I know how to do it (unless it's been changed in the last few months?) shift whilst aiming at a block, then let go of shift and left click? If that is right, please look into fixing this. Thanks!
Edit: Worked out why, the default prepare range is set to 1 block in front of the player. My mistake.
