Could we get regular messages in game saying 'You got paid $x for y amount of time.'

Timed earnings reports. Every configurable number of minutes players get a message saying they earned X income and Y XP. Seems like a good idea. Probably something like:
"You have earned 500 income and 200 xp as a Miner in the last 60 minutes."

I'd be happy to just have a "your current balance" message pop up every 5 min.

I've been running Jobs on my server for two weeks, and about every 2 days I get a message from a player saying "I'm not getting any money from jobs".

It's not that they arent getting money, they are. They don't KNOW that they are getting money however. The other popular jobs plugin (mcJobs) does an announcement that reads (Your jobs have earned you $XX in the last 5 minutes.). It seems that players may be used to this kind of feedback.

It's also helpful as a metric to know if what you are doing is an effective moneymaker. Players can use that 5 minute message as a benchmark for their actions.

For example: mining stone could earn $10 in 5 minutes, whereas mining diamond would earn significantly more. Players can use that message to learn what earns more money without trying to the math on the payouts.
