Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted Feb 13, 2012Not sure if i should call it a bug, but... I'm using Industrial Craft 2 with bukkit and there are many different ways of griefing (nukes, dynamites, lasers). Grief Prevention just ignores it and allows anyone to destroy protected areas with ic2-specific methods. Can you please solve it somehow?

Posted Feb 13, 2012Feature Suggestion:
Would it be possible to add a way to just regenerate land above sea level with the restore nature function? I'd like to be able to use it to restore natural features, but not regenerate the ores and such below ground.

Posted Feb 13, 2012Planning to release 1.8 today.
New features:
Both the golden shovel and the string work from a distance! Up to 100 blocks away. This means:
When a player can't create a claim or restore nature due to a conflict with another claim, that other claim will be highlighted in red so that the player can see it.
When a player builds or breaks beneath his claim, the claim will be automatically extended downward. So as a player explores, his claim goes deeper with him, eliminating the need for tedious resizing or reclaiming to claim areas like basements, cave constructions, and mineshafts.
The claims.enabled config can now be a list of specific worlds, "true" for all worlds, or "false" for no worlds.
Optimizations:
If a player places a chest outside his claim, now he gets a warning message.
Increased the pretty level in visualizations.
Performance caching is in. Less load on the server.
RestoreNature highlights the restored area when successful, instead of displaying a message.
Bug Fixes:
"/untrust all" works without displaying an error message (it was working before, but also showing an error message).
/deleteallclaims and /untrust will now work when the player is offline, provided you type the name with the correct casing. The player must have played on the server previously, though (so no /trusting your friends before they join the server).
RestoreNature can't kill players be suffocating them. It just doesn't work when there's a player in the chunk.
RestoreNature now requires the restorenature permission rather than the ignoreclaims permission.
Players and explosions can no longer destroy minecarts and boats in your claim.
Treetopper code got a major fix. Now tree tops are even harder to leave, while stacks of logs placed by players as part of a construction are MUCH safer (your non-log blocks have always been perfectly safe, and still are).

Like bigscary himself said, this plugin is, for the most part, functioning flawlessly. As another administrator that moved from Residence, I can say that this plugin is far, far more user-friendly. There's really no reason to not switch, at this point. Also, if you're looking to see the plugin in action, there're plenty of administrators in the comment section with the plugin up and running on their server. bigscary, myself, Tux2, etc.

Are you talking about using /trust with groups? I'm not supporting any permissions plugins. You have to /trust and /untrust players individually.
If you're talking about applying administrative permissions like griefprevention.adminclaims, then your problem must be with the other plugin, because mine just uses the permissions provided by the platform. It's up to your other plugin to correctly set those permissions.
@Lostwave
No, you can't disable wilderness building and breaking. The philosophy on this plugin is to stop grief without taking away game features. I think it works extremely well as-is, because players won't be griefed, and any weak-ass wilderness grief can be cleaned up extremely quickly with /restorenature.
About world claims, it's not in yet. I will eventually add an option to enable claims only in specific worlds.
I think you should use the plugin. It's working extremely well on quite a few servers now, including my own where I'm literally the only admin. I only ever ban people for being jerks to others in chat. I've not had a griefing problem that made /ban necessary.

That crashing thing was my bad. Honestly, I didn't bother to test placing a chest at the edge of the end. I'll get it fixed.
@deseven
About translations, maybe eventually.
@Tux2
About the min claim size, now we're nitpicking. Really, dood? Okay anyway, I'll put it in. But it might not be the next release.

Posted Feb 13, 2012MrCheese:
Because /trust commands don't apply to admin claims, it doesn't make sense to subdivide them. Permissions will be the same across the entire claim, including all subdivisions.
If you're trying to do like a "administrator owned hotel" kind of thing, a workaround is to use /adjustbonusclaimblocks to give yourself a giant load of claim blocks, then just make it your own private claim. If you want other admins to have access, give them /permissiontrust and other relevant /trust levels.
Tux:
For your shops thing, use a private claim like I describe above. Just /trust the shop owners, and use Residence to further subdivide the claims vertically to fit your need. I understand it would be better and easier for you if I changed admin claims for to fit your scenario, but I think it's relatively rare and only impacts admins. So I'd rather not complicate admin claims for everyone, since you have a doable workaround in private claims. :)

It's a problem with no block being there.

yeah, I know about the 2x2 stuff, but I wanted to set it to 8x8 as a minimum size, not 2x2 (still quite a reasonable size)! Also, admin claims should be exempt from this limit (or at least have a permission node for that)
Also, BIG glitch: I have a player that tried to make a claim in the end:
When he places the initial chest, the whole game comes crashing down.
When I try to use the string in that area, it also crashes the game. It does work everywhere else in the end though. I have a feeling that it's because the edge of his claim extends into a part of the end where there is just the void and no blocks.

Posted Feb 12, 2012So, I've installed this on my server now and have it set up. Only problem I have with it at the moment is the minimum claim size. It seems to be hardcoded into the plugin. Please make this editable as I would like players to be able to make claims smaller than 10x10 (I want it to be 8x8 as the minimum size).

they can build anywhere they wish except other peoples claims, and if they built anything they wud want to claim to keep it safe, also placing a chest gives any player an automatic claim, so they dont need to learn anything to use it

So, basically as it is now, people can build anywhere they want... whether they make a claim or not? They just cannot build on other peoples claims, right?

at this current time, it is an "all or nothing" situation
you can easily create a HUGE claim that only admins can edit (use for your museum) however you cant make a claim for ppl to build on and prohibit building everywhere else, this is probably a very easy thing to implement, bigscary may consider it i believe (pretty good guy ;) )

Posted Feb 11, 2012Hey there, this plugin sounds very interesting to me.
I have a very busy server and we have been using residence since last April in our main world, and Towny since Sept in our secondary world. When 1.2 comes out we are going to generate a fresh world. I am seriously thinking about using your plugin instead of those two (and possibly get rid of big brother too!). I have read every post in this thread and your messaging above, but I am unsure about a few things.... I sincerly apologize it I missed the answers to these questions.
Thanks! Lostwave.com

Posted Feb 11, 2012Can't seem to get the permissions working with Groupmanager. I've given the permission node to a few groups, but it still gives access to every player, whichever group they're in.
