Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

There is no regeneration. It simply repairs the terrain you already have. Let me know how it works with your custom terrain. :) I do make some assumptions, like for example I treat all netherrack as player-placed in "normal" environments, so depending on how custom your custom terrain is, your results will vary. Based on the modifications you mentioned, I think your world will be perfectly safe to use with /restorenature.
@Koreno
It does work, I use it all the time. You may just have an issue with your permissions plugin (this is the very first time in 6 months of coding that anyone has complained about that permission not working). Permissions plugins are notorious for being very difficult to use, and overly complicated. So don't feel bad if you're having trouble.
@codezombie13
I'm going to file this under cake and fire, which are also not possible to protect. Unfortunately, Bukkit doesn't tell plugins about players interacting with these types of entities/blocks, so there's nothing I can do about it. As a workaround, suggest to the very few players who have cake or dragon eggs laying about that they put glass, bars, or fence around it.

I just know the change was sudden and abrupt for us, it changed our moderator duties significantly. My brain melted and said, "This is hard! D:" just because I apparently hated change. :P But really this is a beautiful plugin and it just gets better! It is magic! Keep up the great work! Our server appreciates it. :)

Posted Jun 30, 2012some more input on the restore nature part of the plugin, I really like it for being simple and powerful.
However I find mistakes are easy to make and hard to fix. I remember seeing you reject someones proposal for an undo command. If your position still stands against it, there might be another solution; click again to confirm. Its hard/impossible to visualize chunks. If I want to delete some wilderness grief I cant be sure which chunk its in, if I click the exact location of the grief it might be on the border of a chunk that I don't want restored. With this we can see which chunk will be affected and decide whether to continue or if its best to fix manually.

Posted Aug 20, 2012Read the description. It gives players a way to create their own (limited) land claims, and basically stops ALL kinds of grief, except for chat trolling, which requires a human eye. It's better than every other anti grief plugin ever made - it's easy for players, easy for admins, covers all types of grief, prevents grief instead of rolling it back after the fact, works great without any configuration, doesn't require a database... the reasons go on and on.

Posted Jun 30, 2012The griefprevention.spam permission does not work. I added the permission to a player. checked it with /manulistp [player] and it showed in the list.
But when the player (me, just on another account) logs and and logs back in, I am still given the 2 minute wait

Posted Jun 30, 2012You should update the wilderness regeneration info box to include info on how it works with custom terrain? Would it work for a map with custom gen files? like say i edited the gold or diamond spawn ratios or i tweaked sea level or even made huge unique cave systems and massive mountains?

Had same problem, and bigscary already partly answered it. Here's what I did:
Now people can open only that chest and not all the other chests in your claim, you can subdivide your claim as much as you want to add more shops.

@fungreenfox
Which version are you on? That sounds like a bug I fixed a couple of versions back.
@KovuTheHusky
Okay, I can probably fix cakes. Let me see what Bukkit will let me do there.
@vein_mx
I guess I can come have a look. Does your banner have your up to date connection info?
@jbanto
I don't want to reduce the power of a very cool tool that admins and players use often just to make griefers take a few more steps. Unprotected houses should be few - let the players who ignore all the messages about claiming learn the hard way.
@ryvix
Thanks, someone mentioned this before. It's trivial to build a stack of dirt blocks in the water and stand on them, so I'm okay with someone opportunistically using the visualization blocks as a platform.
@Dr_Proffesor
Okay, but it has to be either on or off. I'm not going to do an "if claimed no; otherwise yes" thing because it's too expensive.
@McKezieSprinkles
How did you ever think it was complicated? All most players have to do is place a chest, then later right click a couple of times with a shovel. Admins don't even have to configure the thing, or set up a database. It's magic. :) I'm glad you like it!
@Steelsouls
In the video, there's a pop-up message that says "use the stick now". I guess you missed it. Hope you understand I didn't want to re-record the entire series of videos just to use a stick instead of a string. You're welcome. :)
@Praqoon
The reason for the string, originally, was because other plugins like WorldGuard had already put some players in the habit, so choosing that reduced the learning curve for those players. I agree the stick is better - it's easier to get in survival mode.
@weja93
I guess I'd need more details on that. If the claim is your private claim, use /containertrust public. This will allow everyone to access your containers.
@2Andri
Update to the latest version. That's already fixed.
@Steelsouls
I originally had them disappear after an amount of time, but it got really messy and confusing for players when multiple visualizations got involved (I hope you'll take my word for it, it's difficult to explain in text). Also when a player is resizing or claiming a new area, they often want the borders to hang around as a reminder while they get started on their build, until they're explicitly done with them.

Can you please add a config option for the amount of time the claim indication border stays visible? It seems in the new version it's permanent (or just very long) unless you hit the stick at an unclaimed block to get rid of the borders. I would like the glowstone/gold to only show up for about 5 seconds.

Posted Jun 30, 2012Like, Steelsouls, I also love the idea of claim blocks for in-game time (as long as your not just AFK) and the ease-of-use and simplicity of this plugin. It's the definitive and conclusive answer to griefing. Protecting ur stuff and not having to worry about it is a few blocks of my mind and I can get on with more important things.
I can't agree more with McKenzie... it's not just a "must-have" it's an essential element of every gameworld. How can you possibly live without it? I hope this will be available in the 1.3 update, I seriously do!!! :D
BTW, using a stick to reveal the staus of a block makes more sense to me than using a piece of string.

Posted Jun 29, 2012Hi there, great plugin! I love the simplicity and the earning blocks for playtime. I have been using WE/WG for a long time with Multiverse as a suplement for extra world options (not as much for multiworld). This eliminates the need for all those! Thank you!
Question: I can't find the patch notes list to see all the changes in one place. Where are they? I was watching the videos and learned that string is the checker tool, then in the newest download it's a stick. A bit confusing.

I originally hated the idea of your plugin, it seemed too complicated and overall annoying. I was on the server with Auntiebeast when we made the transition. I came to love this plugin and felt vulnerable when the plugin was removed. Since then Auntiebeast, I, and a few other friends have started a server and this plugin was in the must have list. Everyone loves it. We started it up on day one and everyone loves the plugin and its simplicity.
Thank you for all the hard work you put into this plugin!

Posted Jun 29, 2012Hello,
On another plugin called Chunk Viewer they are using glowstone to display the corners of chunks, similar to how this plugin displays the corners of land claims. However, apparently using a block you can go through on water, such as a torch is a good idea because then you can't stand on it. Just thought I would let you know =)

Posted Jun 28, 2012May I suggest you adjust the information tool?
Currently someone can just get a stick, and right click every house they see and find out instantly if it is protected or not, and if not they can run toward it and start griefing. It's basically letting griefers know which houses they can destroy. I think the simplest solution to this is just to reduce the range of the tool so they still have to waste time and hunger walking closer to houses to find out if its protected instead of just standing in the middle of spawn and clicking away.

In my situation, there are no subdivision. Just in a normal claim. Sometimes it won't even let you put down a sapling. But when it does, using a bonemeal on it will cause both to disappear.
