Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Posted May 30, 2013I like your plugin. However, I don't need the claims part.
How can I disable the claims creation part and still use other settings of your plug-in?

Sorry, I was being facetious, since "it's not working" isn't a whole lot to go on. Basically, if it's not working, there is clearly a reason for it.
It's not intentionally disabled but a lot of the commands assume a player is sending it, simply because it needs to check that the player issuing the command has permissions as well as knowing where to send the output. When I tried it in the current dev build, I got an exception, for example.
However, there have been no changes to that part of the code for as far back in the history as I can look. Nonetheless I've changed it to not try to send messages when the command is not issued by a player, but it will instead be silent.

Thanks for the quick reply and for all the work that must go into creating and supporting this plugin. It is well appreciated.
I had already put a support ticket in to the hosting company. They told me to run the server as root. I'm not tremendously familiar with Linux (my test server is running Server 2012), but I understand that that is inherently dangerous. I've asked them if there is another solution to attain the necessary permission, and I am awaiting a response.
Thanks again.

It doesn't have write permission. Claims will only work until the server is rebooted.

Ok, is there a reason why? It used to work from the console. It would be really convenient if you could re-enable that.

Posted May 30, 2013I apologize for what is likely a dumb question, but I'm new to plugins. I have Grief Prevention 7.6.2 installed on my server (Which is using MCPC+ for 1.4.7 to run it) along with PermissionsEX only (so far). It seems to be working fine, but I keep getting Permission Denied errors on the console such as:
I did not get these in when I tried it first on my test server, but this is on my live server, which is via hosting company. The host's proprietary control panel shows a Console window, but it's not the full, verbose (cmd.exe) information.
I have searched for this error with no luck. It's like it doesn't have write permission to the folder even though the claims seem to work fine. Does anyone know what is causing this and/or how to fix it?
EDIT: I've found one reason or effect of the errors. Claim block amounts don't seem to be being updated. When a user logs back on they have no blocks. In fact, if they have a claim they have a negative balance of claim blocks.

Oh he wanted to find the Claim... that makes a lot more sense. I thought he lost his bed inside a claim or something, haha

If you do /claimslist <playername> you will get a list of all of that player's claims, along with coordinates, which you can use to help him find his claim.

In the development versions, there is an option in the /plugins/GriefPreventionData/WorldConfigs/<worldname>.yml
Claims.AbandonReturnRatio: 1.0
if you set this to 0.5, it should return half of the claim blocks when a player does /abandonclaim

Posted May 27, 2013Hello! When users use /siege on another player with Dog's the Dog's become invincible, which makes game play very political and some very very angry players. How can I make dogs die when getting attack in a fight?
