Grief Prevention
AUTOMATICALLY PREVENTS ALL FORMS OF GRIEF, including build/break, theft, spam, fire, spawn camping, lava dumping, chat trolling, advertising and more, so you don't have to undo any damage after the fact. It even teaches players how to use it so you don't have to! No configuration or database required. Stop responding to grief and prevent it instead. Grief Prevention will solve your grief problems without requiring you to manage a roster of trained administrators, juggle 10 different anti-grief plugins, take away cool standard game features, publish a training manual / tutorial for players, or add explanatory signs to your world. You can also choose to integrate PvP elements into build design to finally get a PvP experience befitting a sandbox game about creative building.
Grief Prevention stops grief before it starts automatically without any effort from administrators, and with very little (self service) effort from players. Solve all your grief problems with a single download, no database, and no configuration step.

Please Vote for Grief Prevention
I've also posted Grief Prevention on the Spigot site, where plugins are ranked based on reviews. If you love GP, please take a couple of minutes to give GP your rating and leave a short review. Better rating and positive reviews will help server owners who look for plugins on the Spigot site make the safe choice (GP) instead of downloading something sketchy or incomplete. :) Thanks so much for all your support!

Okay I got that /claimbook and It tells me gold spade and stick. I tested it again today w/ the 1.9 version of the plugin working and the gold spade and stick still don't actually do anything. When I put the plugin back to the latest 1.8 version, they work fine except for subdivides don't work properly.

I've been doing hacks like that for 40 years. In this case, it was only used temporarily so I could transfer the claims to players who have been away for a long time.
The JavaDocs say that getLastPlayed returns the "date of last log-in for this player".
@desertrose0601
If you give yourself the book with /claimbook, what does it say the tools are?

Posted Mar 25, 2016@bigscary Not sure what you mean by buildtools.jar. I don't see that file in my server files. I'm running a BeastNode server with CraftBukkit 1.9, and it seems to keep itself up to date automatically. It says it updated itself last on 03.25.16 - which is today. I downloaded the latest 14.2 today of your plugin and restarted my server. Didn't work at all. Golden shovel and stick act like they're not even a thing.

Your server is outdated. Re-run buildtools.jar to get a newer 1.9 version.
@IKFFxRaPzZ @desertrose0601
Try again on latest version of GP and also update your server. Early spigot/craftbukkit 1.9 builds were flakey this way.
@Bobcat00
Hehe, nice hack there. :)
@Jikoo_K
Hmm.. I think maybe LastSeen wasn't available from Bukkit when I started this project? Do you know if it's their last log IN time, or their last log OUT time?
@boushwa
It's what they get per hour of ACTIVE play. GP tries to ignore obvious idling like standing still, riding around in a minecart or on a pig, or standing in a water conveyor.
@desertrose0601
I'm frustrated that so many are having this issue - it seems some have it, others don't. My guess is that it has to do with Spigot version - try updating to the latest 1.9 you can get (rerun buildtools.jar) and see if that solves your problem.
@1adog1
Sorry no, don't want to stray out of anti-grief and bloat the plugin. Gotta keep it lean, only spending the CPU cycles it must to stop griefers.

Posted Mar 25, 2016Loving the plugin! This has been my go-to for anti-griefing since 2012. Just wondering, are there any plans to create a way to buy or sell already made claims/subdivisions instead of just claim blocks? I know you can set up a shop with deeds and just transfer ownership to the same effect, but a built in way to do this would be awesome!

Ooh interesting. And you're able to use the golden shovel and stick to view and set claims? For me it was just acting like those weren't a thing.

Posted Mar 19, 2016Having some issues with automatic claim expiration deleting claims before they're eligible because GP's last login data is incorrect.
Relevant config:
The last seen date for the player in question (confirmed by 2 other plugins) is December 29th, 2015. That's 82 days ago. The date from the player's data is 2015.10.22.00.17.21. Is there any reason you don't just use players' last login date, easily obtainable from an OfflinePlayer? This is not the first case I've seen of GP not agreeing with Bukkit's last seen date, but it's the first I've noticed that is so pronounced and problematic.
I'm currently running GP 13.9.1, though I'll be upgrading to 1.9 and 14.0.1 shortly.

Posted Mar 19, 2016I'm still on 1.8.8 and GP 13.9.1. I'd like to switch one of my worlds from another protection plugin to GP. The problem is that some players haven't logged in for a very long time, and when I make an administrative claim and attempt to do /transferclaim, I can't. Is there any way to transfer a claim to someone who hasn't logged in for a long time?
I'm using the file database, so one option is to edit their player data to have a more recent login time. Any other ways?EDIT: lastSeen comes from Bukkit, so that won't work. EDIT 2: Patched the class file with a hex editor to change the 90L to 1000L.-

Posted Mar 19, 2016@desertrose0601 This probably doesn't help you much, but I used both 1.9 versions and they do work on my server, so it might be a config prob on your machine? I did not have to change a damn thing when moving from 13.9.1. It worked straight out of the box.

Posted Mar 19, 2016I tried both 1.9 versions you have here - neither one worked. Sticks and golden shovels are useless. Moving back to the 13.9.1 lets grief prevention work again, but of course that puts me back to my previous issue of not being able to subdivide lands.
Is there something else I need to do besides uploading the newest plugin file to get it to work? Do I need to change anything in the config or delete a file somewhere?

Posted Mar 19, 2016When i updated to the newest 1.9 plugin today, sticks no longer tell me who's claim blocks these are when I click on them. The boundaries show up, but it used to tell me, for example, "desertrose0601 has claimed this block" but it no longer says anything. Is there a setting that I can return it's functionality to normal or can you please fix this? Thanks. :)
Oh also, the golden shovel tells me I have claim blocks to use but doesn't seem to do anything other than make paths when I right-click. Seems the whole grief prevention aspect of this plug-in broke.

Probably not, I have some more anti grief fixes to get done related to 1.9 changes. Did you try deleting the bannedwords.txt file to make it reset to defaults? At least that should reduce your problem to only muting people who use some widely offensive language right after the join your server for the first time.

No, but you can add that with GriefPrevention Flags (see spigotmc.org).
@krisy1234
I'm not sure what the issue is in your case - maybe check your server logs for error messages around the time you were trying to claim land?
Also, update to the version I just released today. :)
