This is a transport system based on the Stargate series allowing gates to connect to each other based on a nine item combination.

Posted Oct 6, 2012im having issues with this plugin, i uploaded to my server and restarted it, however when i try to spawn a gate i get the following msg "Usage:/gate <info:connect:disconnect> target [destination] " and when i build one as described step for step in the tutorial video nothing happens at all... any help would be appreciated as this looks like what ive been searching for.

If the vortex effect is on blocks should be destroyed. Not sure if it's possible to destroy items. Ticket added for killing players in the vortex.

Ah that's a bug with V1.0 it doesn't create the settings file properly. Fixed in V1.1a. The workaround for V1.0 is to copy the config from http://code.google.com/p/minecraft-gates/wiki/Configuration.

Posted Sep 18, 2012Hello, i'm having problems, using this plugin. Therefore i have removed all other plugins and tried 3 different versions of bukkit (1.3.1 R1.0, 1.3.1 R2.0, 1.3.2 R0.1). I'm getting the following message in MC, when i try to spawn a gate:

I have found out, that the config.yml is created, but empty.

I'll do a tutorial video on irises at some point to clear that up as they are a bit complicated and I need to have a look into redstone. I know that a redstone torch under the block the sign is on when toggled activates the autodial.
I don't know of any plugibs that conflict other than another one called gates as I believe it uses the same first line on signs.
Just to let everyone know I have just switched os to linux and just started a new job which is why there hasn't been a new alpha in a while. I'm going to do some testing and upload a new file then start on some of the requested features.

Well, I didn't know about the auto-dial line in the chest when I posted that. That is pretty cool. What I was referring to was something like a scrolling menu sign that could have several predefined addresses so I could set up gates to common locations and then have it where members could use the chest to input addresses to less common areas if they didn't want to travel to the ones that were predefined (maybe like a second sign over the first one for this instance).

Not at all sure if that's possible with the current setup, but just an idea.
Also, I tried running the redstone to the block below the sign as you suggested but it still will not cause the gate to dial. I am having trouble getting the iris to work as well. I have so many plugins on my server that it may be a conflict somewhere that is causing it. I wont be sure unless I remove everything and try it which is a tedious process to say the least. If you know of any that may cause the conflict, I have listed them below.

Ok i've looked through your suggestions properly now. Not sure what you mean with normal portals and scrolling signs. As for redstone lamps and clicking the ring for the address, i've added tickets and i'll get working on that.
Multiverse should work as long as the different verses use different names in the bukkit location calss but i havn't looked into this.

Ok...found the wiki...you might want a link to that on this page. So i get the high powered gates thing, but I am having trouble powering the sign with redstone. I run redstone to it with the materials in the chest to dial the address but nothing happens. Do you have an example or anyone else that may have gotten this working wish to help?

Posted Sep 12, 2012What do you mean by high powered gates? Is this automatic or do I need to do something special to get them to work? I didn't see any options in the config that would relate to them.
Also...any chance of getting this working with a scrolling sign for basic portals but still keep the DHD for portals that I can scatter about for people to find...and on that note, maybe have it where you can punch the sign or ring and it tell you its address for future travel that way you can discover the gates and then get the address instead of using the info command? One more idea, it would be neat if the portal could be made with redstone lamps that powered up as it dials instead of the torches....don't know if thats possible but hey, thought I'd mention it.
Just some ideas. It works rather nicely. No feedback yet on whether it can cross-world travel (the main point of stargates imo) so I guess I'll test it out and see if it plays nice with multiverse.
