What is Factions?
With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.
Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.
Install
- Stop your server.
- Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
- Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
- Start your server again.
- Configure (Optional)
New In Factions 2.8
- Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
- Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
- WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
- Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
- Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
- 1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
- Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
- Performance - Further work on improved performance.
- Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Sorry, but further economy-specific features aren't currently planned. You can however approximate the functionality by manually using /f powerboost.

Hmm. Off the top of my head, if you have faction homes enabled, you could make sure each faction has a faction home set and new members could use /f home to get out of your spawn area.
Other than that, I'm not sure of any other ways offhand.

I've tested 1.6.6b on the 1.2 beta release and ghast fireballs are correctly prevented from destroying blocks inside SafeZones. 1.1-R7 shouldn't behave any differently, so I'm not sure why it doesn't seem to be working for you.

Having factions confer permission groups is something we might add eventually using Vault, but probably not any time soon.

Posted Mar 9, 2012Hello guys, I was looking for a way to make each faction a seperate permissions group, if that's possible. If it is, please show me how. Can I make it so that if you haven't chosen a faction, you can't leave spawn? Or a way that once you chose a faction, your permission group changes from default to user? I am kinda new to factions and permissions, so if you can, please help. If you want, drop by my server at 108.80.210.54 to ask about my problems and see what you can do to fix 'em. There isn't an option to disable command logging, though I agree there should be. I'll add a note to add an option for it in a future release.

Posted Mar 9, 2012Hello there love this plugin it is what our server is built upon as most faction servers are. Just curious it isn't too big of a deal but fills up the server log mainly. For some reason it is logging and printing every command given by players. IE: [Player Command] name /f map It does that for all faction commands I don't see a way to disable this in the config is this supposed to be like that???

Posted Mar 8, 2012@Pythros: I've had the same problem on my server, because of conflict between the two you cannot use the {faction} in your string, but! Factions has an option to use "chatTagInsertBeforeString" or "chatTagInsertAfterString" What I do is:
{color}[{nick}] | {prefix}{sender}{suffix}: {msg} {color}
If you add the "|" in the "chatTagInsertBeforeString" or "chatTagInsertAfterString" in your Factions config.yml, it will inject the faction tag into your line, before or after the mark.
Note: You might have to play with your ChatTagInsertIndex a little to get this to work properly, depending on the rest of your string.

Posted Mar 8, 2012I'm trying to get the chat working with HeroChat 5.5. I can get the faction to insert with this:
{color}[{nick}] &f[{faction}{prefix}&f] - {suffix}{sender}&f:{color} {msg}
However, it doesn't provide a space after the faction. I do have chatTagPadAfter: true but it still doesn't create the extra space. And I'm at total lost how to work with chatTagFormat. Help please! Thanks ^_^

There is no setting, but ghast fireballs are prevented from damaging SafeZones.
