What is Factions?

With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.

Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.

Install

Stop your server.
Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
Start your server again.
Configure (Optional)

New In Factions 2.8

Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
Performance - Further work on improved performance.
Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Surely there is a way in code to check whether a player is standing in front of a block when trying to open a chest. And if they are then prevent them from opening the chest.

Whether the code is perfect or not there must be a way to make it better than it currently is.

All mobs on both my normal and nether world are acting like pigs. The don't attack and they are just walking around not even responding to a player in survival. I unloaded factions and suddenly they all attack. What am I doing wrong?

does latest version work on 1.8 yet ? I dare not try , and now I see the thing about changinh commands is this something that will stay , I would also find this a problem as many ppl don't speak English well and its hard to explain it to them.

I have the permissions set on my server so anyone can open all containers in all territories, Although players can't build in other territories. Players are able to break glass/open doors quickly and right click to open chests behind them in other territories that they can't build in. Potentially opening chests through walls.

Is there a way to fix this problem?

I don't criticize the improvement but admit that you can simply add new commands instead of changing the old one, it's really annoying especially when you own a server where players don't speak english and we have to explain 500 times that now they have to do "/f claim o" instead of "/f claim" and "/f unclaim all all factionname" instead of "/f unclaim all" and a lot of people leave the server. Just keep in mind that best plugins are the simplest ones.

I mean, your plugin was already perfect, no need to add so many things, or at least make it optional and keep improving performances and fix the bugs.

Or if you really want to do something useful for everybody: add the possibility for admins to claim land using world edit, because most of the time we can't claim our spawn correctly because it don't match exactly the chunks, it would be a great improvement.

By the way I don't understand why but the plugin don't hook with worldguard anymore, so now people can claim spawn and It's quite annoying since, as I said, I can't claim it as safezone because it don't match the chunks.

The particle API is currently the only thing not compatible with Minecraft 1.8. I use this external library: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/lib-1-7-particleeffect-v1-5.154406/ As soon as it's updated particle effect errors will disappear.

I do wholeheartedly intend to improve upon and develop this plugin. I want to make it even better than it already is. Change is inevitable since it goes hand in hand with improvements. Make sure you test the new features and actually understand the improvements made before you criticize changes made.

They've actually coded an update on GitHub, 2.7.2. MassiveCore has an update too.

Which is the latest version with /f show and no dupe glitch as you get hurt if u try to glitch into a claimed land? PLEASE REPLY!! :D

Just becarefull if you try to use this.... the claim and unclaim commands seem to be BROKEN. Clan leaders can claim, unclaim, claim all, and unclaim all, anything, to include other factions, safezone and warzones areas despite power levels or permissions.

Seriously BROKEN!

EDIT: After testing every option, setting, and thought i could, i found that when i downgraded to version 2.7.0 it finally started working correctly and give me the proper response "You cant't claim this land due to your relation with the current owner." and "FACTION owns this land and is strong enough to keep it.". I then stopped the server and upgraded back to 2.7.1 and the issue continues to be fixed. I'm not sure what fixed it, or how, and frankly I'm still worried that the problem may come back but there's your best clue if the derv's want to look into it. The issue is server breaking so its something that should be reviewed at the very least.

Please stop changing the commands in every update, users don't like changes

"/f unclaim all" was so simple, but now we have to do "/f unclaim all all factionname" why?

"/f claim" was good too, no need to add useless features, or at least add them but don't change the commands that users already know, please.

Anyone know how to fix my issue? For some reason ANY faction leader can now claim any land no matter the power of the owning clan. They can even claim safe zones and war zones and claim things for other clans as well. If there not a leader of a faction everything seems to work fine. Any ideas?

READ! When I try to download the new version Factions 2.7 onto my server, it says it is installed, but when I reload, restart, etc my server, it doesn't show Factions on /help, and when I type /f, it says unknown command. Also, there is no config for Factions when I go into my config files.
