What is Factions?
With this plugin players group up in Factions. You claim land as your own and build your base. Factions is a self serve anti griefing system. Leaders control who can can edit their faction land.
Factions is also about diplomacy and war. You declare wars and forge alliances. You fight over land and manage your monetary expenses.
Install
- Stop your server.
- Put MassiveCore.jar in your plugins folder. Download MassiveCore here on BukkitDev.
- Put Factions.jar in your plugins folder.
- Start your server again.
- Configure (Optional)
New In Factions 2.8
- Reworked Commands - /f rank, /f invite, /f flag and /f perm.
- Added Commands - /f setpower, /f status, /f unstuck and /f tt.
- WorldGuard - Readded a simple integration.
- Tab Completion - Tab completion now available for everything!
- Interactive Text - Clickable buttons for list and help commands.
- 1.8 Titles - Optionally used for territory info.
- Animals Flag - New flag similar to the Monsters flag.
- Performance - Further work on improved performance.
- Bug Fixes - Loads of minor bugs were fixed.

Posted Dec 13, 2013If you guys even understood the amazing functionality of the new version of factions/mcore you wouldn't even consider using the old versions. What plugin allows to edit the configs LIVE and auto reloads it and is extremely multi-server friendly? Before installing any plugin you should read the documentation included. It clearly says that the config is created in the mstore folder under the root dir of the server (where you have craftbukkit.jar). I mean come on guys they put the time to write this information so why not read it? These plugins these guys put out are pure gold.

All config files are generated - you all are just looking for it in the wrong place! The configs are not in the plugins folder but in the root of your mc server in a folder called mstore :P and for the commands/permission it couldn't be simpler (I tried/used all versions of the faction plugin on my server)

I don't know about you, but most plugins i get generate a config. Secondly, I'm not sure why people are even using this new version. The factions for 1.5 works perfectly with 1.7.2, the layour is better, the commands are better, and nothing is broken. Plus it generates you a config and permissions are in all the right places.

Configs are not "generated", You have to create them yourself. I use Groupmanager on my server since I use essentials.

Posted Dec 13, 2013Does anyone have problems with the 2.x factions using a lot of CPU, I was fine before updating from 1.6.X then all of a sudden it started lagging. I've tried to raise the amount of time between the update of power and saving, but I still get over 100% of my CPU and it lags.

You owe everyone an apology. Everything you just said was a pile of rubbish. Just because your too lazy to configure the factions config doesn't mean its the plugins fault. Its yours. Also I'm using Factions 1.7.2 version and mcore 7.0.1 and everything is working perfectly. Also with your "players" being able to join safezone, its down to how you set up your configuration, you mucked up and tried blaming someone who has created an outstanding plugin?!. Lesson to be learnt: Learn how to set up configuration before blaming someone else.

Posted Dec 12, 2013This new factions update is 100% broken. I have no idea why you chose to change the things you did, but it isn't working at all and frankly I'm considering switching plugins because of how aweful it's been. For starters, normal members are, by default, able to use /f admin and do whatever they wish regarding factions. Fortunately that's fixable by simply adding the perm "-factions.admin" to your default group. Another large problem is that players are able to join, leave, and unclaim any land they want. For instance, a player can join safezone with /f join safezone no problem. I understand there were probably a lot of changed, I'm no plugin expert, but please don't release something like this. It's more trouble than it's worth. Just stick with the original commands and layout of factions, and fix these damned permissions!

The server owner would like to know if he can set flags for all of the factions at once as another player complained that you can not grief, so is there a command that would allow the owner to do /f flag [Command that targets all factions] offlineexplosions yes. I have it so claims must be connected. I want it so that when you are claiming over other peoples bases, you cant just go to the center and claim their home. But thats the thing, they are just doing /f unclaim instead of claiming there base. (they don't have enough power to hold this land), but they shouldnt be able to unclaim other peoples land, only overclaim it with their own if they don't have the power.
Is this in the config that i can fix or is it not possible to make it like that.
