The great outdoors is all good and fine but sometimes you just want to go to town. Not any town will do, how about one that goes on forever or multiple ones separated by the largest mountains possible in MineCraft. But what is under those mountains? There is an entire world to explore, have fun!
There is a Spigot/Bukkit happy version of CityWorld over at http://www.spigotmc.org/resources/cityworld.2250/. I am not going to be updating the version here on dev.bukkit.com, so go there for the latest.

- Now supports Minecraft/Spigot 1.9 (or I think it does) and was tested against PI day build of Spigot
- Added an option to turn off things like Hot Air Balloons for folks who don't like fun things in the air ;-)
- Add material lists for astral, bunkers and water towers generation, yes I know there still more to do
- Reduced the likelihood of Museums, sorry about that
- Farms now can grow BeetRoots, Yumm!
- More building and roof styles
- MAYBE ISSUE: It seems to me that Minecraft/Spigot 1.9 causes CityWorld to generate worlds slower, but I could be wrong

- Finally got the fossils generating... and Museums :-)
- Fixed a long standing tree generation bug... and added the occasional dead tree trunk

- The majority of materials used during building generation are now configurable (lists are maintained in the cityworld's yml file)
- All chest content generation is now configurable (phatloot should still work if you really need it)
- Road material is now configurable, don't like clay... change it
- Added new lot types to world (hot air balloons, water towers, park mazes, barns, etc.)
- Brought over some of the Maze world lots to normal worlds (lumber yards, quarries, camp grounds, etc.)
- Created a way to invert the range generation logic, now you can generate cities that surround a center of nature instead of the other way around
- Lots of refactoring and tweaking, world generation will likely change... sorry but it couldn't be helped
- Fixed a number of bugs that have been bothering me
Personal note
It has been a while, sorry but my day job continues to be a bit crazy and is pretty much taking up all of my time. In this most recent update CityWorld should now work against 1.8.8 to a large degree. Many things have changed with the latest MineCraft and Spigot/CraftBukkit, I would be surprised if no problems are hiding in here somewhere.

Heads up!
This plugin really "tests" MineCraft/Bukkit when it comes to complex worlds. In fact when you spawn/teleport into a new CityWorld (or some wildly new location) it takes a while for all of the blocks to generate. This is especially obvious if you are flying around. Once the blocks are generated though everything works just fine. What I recommend is take a tour of your new world and just walk/fly up to each "uninitialized chunk" until everything shows up.

I am still travelling around looking for generation glitches. If something major pops up then it might not get posted tonight. Keep your fingers crossed.
p.s. for those who were curious, the latest plugin will require 1.7.2 and or better. It works fine with 1.7.10.

I am tracking down a bunker issue related to tunnels. I was hoping to get it out tonight but now I am not sure. If not then it will be tomorrow night. The good news is that I have family in town this week, so I don't have to go in to the office. The bad news is that I have family in town this week, so I am never too sure how much time I have to work before heading out to be the chauffeur. :-)
The bunkers are much nicer now... and there is an official way in. Mind you it is camouflaged... so it is hard to find... but at least it exists.
I am testing against 1.7.10 for those who care ;-)

Posted Jul 8, 2014How again folks. I am about ready to release an official 1.7.9 version. While there are a number of subtle improvements, most of my work as been towards refactoring things to get ready for 1.8. (or at least I think). I hope to release the new release here on Bukkit/Dev this weekend.

Edit: Well it might be because i dont get to the part where the chunks load, about 1-5 chunks load then server lags out :( I mean we run mods, multiverse and that all fine, but this plugin is just bad ass :D It uses resources 100 times more then the server has to avaibility

It looks like 1.8 is closer now - they just pushed out the new blockstates code ;)
Methinks this is gonna be a complete rewrite for you - well for the actual block building - your code for roads and plats/zones should still be sound.
One thought - you have alot of constants in your code for example 0.15 on this line: ShapeProvider_Normal.java#L186 as well as the frequency, amplitude and scale constants in the same class... Any chance those could be exposed in CityWorldSettings.java ?? I do this in a fork and it works well to let me tweak the terrain and the occurrence of city to make it more or less urban. (Or you could instead put these in an advanced.yml file to separate out these settings that need more care in their tweaking ;) )

I have one question. If I paste one schematic , let's say in 'Industrial' folder. Will the only one schematic that I pasted replace all of the Industrial buildings? Or it will just become one of the them?
Is it possible to let us know more about the schematics mechanism in CityWorld? Thanks:)
And btw. This is the most breathtaking terrain generator after browsing the whole bukkit categories. I use CityWorld for my apocalypse server (dynmap here if you're interested : http://mineout.mooo.com:8123 ) And I really thank you for creating such beautiful map generator.

Posted Jun 12, 2014I'm a huge fan of this plugin. I'm limping along with it on a 1.7.9 spigot server even though it's so old, but I adore it too much to let go... I'd be ever so grateful for an update one day. But I can imagine that would take a LOT of work. I'll keep an eye out. Thank you for it! :)

Posted May 11, 2014This is one of my favorite plugins, I really do love how well everything gets generated. Could you add a new sort of building like a national monument or a rarity setting for schematics and the such and mabye an underground city generation or the option for more chests in normal buildings would also be really cool.
