CityWorld
The great outdoors is all good and fine but sometimes you just want to go to town. Not any town will do, how about one that goes on forever or multiple ones separated by the largest mountains possible in MineCraft. But what is under those mountains? There is an entire world to explore, have fun!
There is a Spigot/Bukkit happy version of CityWorld over at http://www.spigotmc.org/resources/cityworld.2250/. I am not going to be updating the version here on dev.bukkit.com, so go there for the latest.

- Now supports Minecraft/Spigot 1.9 (or I think it does) and was tested against PI day build of Spigot
- Added an option to turn off things like Hot Air Balloons for folks who don't like fun things in the air ;-)
- Add material lists for astral, bunkers and water towers generation, yes I know there still more to do
- Reduced the likelihood of Museums, sorry about that
- Farms now can grow BeetRoots, Yumm!
- More building and roof styles
- MAYBE ISSUE: It seems to me that Minecraft/Spigot 1.9 causes CityWorld to generate worlds slower, but I could be wrong

- Fixed a long standing tree generation bug... and added the occasional dead tree trunk

- The majority of materials used during building generation are now configurable (lists are maintained in the cityworld's yml file)
- All chest content generation is now configurable (phatloot should still work if you really need it)
- Road material is now configurable, don't like clay... change it
- Added new lot types to world (hot air balloons, water towers, park mazes, barns, etc.)
- Brought over some of the Maze world lots to normal worlds (lumber yards, quarries, camp grounds, etc.)
- Created a way to invert the range generation logic, now you can generate cities that surround a center of nature instead of the other way around
- Lots of refactoring and tweaking, world generation will likely change... sorry but it couldn't be helped
- Fixed a number of bugs that have been bothering me
Personal note
It has been a while, sorry but my day job continues to be a bit crazy and is pretty much taking up all of my time. In this most recent update CityWorld should now work against 1.8.8 to a large degree. Many things have changed with the latest MineCraft and Spigot/CraftBukkit, I would be surprised if no problems are hiding in here somewhere.

Heads up!
This plugin really "tests" MineCraft/Bukkit when it comes to complex worlds. In fact when you spawn/teleport into a new CityWorld (or some wildly new location) it takes a while for all of the blocks to generate. This is especially obvious if you are flying around. Once the blocks are generated though everything works just fine. What I recommend is take a tour of your new world and just walk/fly up to each "uninitialized chunk" until everything shows up.

Posted Jan 8, 2013I love this mod but sort of dislike your blobby caves. Is there any way to return to more classic minecraft caves? I really wish your generator had more options in terms of the outlying terrain, as the city worlds them selves are great. I'd love to be able to have a big ruined city in the middle of normal minecraft terrain.

how da hell you manage to create something like this??? Its simply impossible! I created world, and refuse to believe its there! Hell!
I did it this way:
- use plugin, disregard worldedit error,
- create world with multiverse,
- use plugin called world border, and set size of world as you like (i used 8000 blocks)
- use same worldborder plugin to generate whole world (it takes ages)
- stop server, save generated world, delete city plugin
- start server ... now:
1. you generated world with cities plugin and it should have a bunch of buildings in it, right? :)
2. go to you x-named world with mv tp x-named world and you will have all structures generated and world ready to populate with 8000 blocks (in this case) size. Ehmm, it might not be generated on exact spawn, just explore arround you will find it.
You have CityWorls, and youre ready to go,
Just need some thinking and its easy done if you know how to use: Multiverse, WorldBorder and bottle of beer on table.

Posted Dec 28, 2012Win 7 64 1.4.6 Bukkit with World Edit 5.4.6 and World Guard 5.6.6 MV Core 2.4 MV NetherPortals 2.5 MV Portals 2.4 CityWorld 2.03 Config.yml is blank. Worlds generate but no cities other than very small NPC Villages. but then I /cityworld and it made an EPIC CITY!!!

Posted Dec 19, 2012Seems pretty cool. This is asking for a huge amount, but I was curious with an option in the generation tierGen: ruins/poor/med/rich
Ruins - Perfect for minigames and things like that, make the town look like a huge ruin with mossy/cracked stone brick, mossy cobble, holes in walls/floors/ceilings/windows, etc. Perhaps allow us to customize what we define as "ruined generation" blocks.. like an ID list.
Poor - Cheap materials such as cobblestone, sandstone, wood, etc. Perhaps allow us to customize what we define as "poor generation" blocks.. like an ID list.
Med - Decent materials, combination of the poor and the rich, more aimed toward a center, hence the name. Something like generating wood, cobble, logs, bricks, sandstone, stone, etc. Perhaps allow us to customize what we define as "med generation" blocks.. like an ID list.
Rich - Very good materials. Something like bricks, ore blocks, so on with the higher tier materials. Perhaps allow us to customize what we define as "rich generation" blocks.. like an ID list.
This is a lot to ask, and I don't think it will be added.. but hey, suggestions are my thing I guess. Also, I support Jhwx's suggestion, seems like everything else I would add lol.

I figured out that you can generate any amount of worlds you need as long as each world has its own section in the config file and they all have a set seed number. If you use Multiworld make sure to give each world a set seed so that it will not break your world turn off all other world generation. It was a pain but it worked great I was able to generate around 5 worlds with no issues testing just making sure to add each world into the bukkit.yml.like this at the end http://pastebin.com/gD1Q4YmK

Just wanted to pop up and say I will be working again on CityWorld as soon as I can. My day job is really taking every bit of creative spark I have at the moment, as such when I get home I am pretty much wiped out. I was hoping to get some cycles on CityWorld over the turkey weekend but that proved to not be doable. I have not abandoned CityWorld, but it is number 3 on my do list (behind family and work). :-)
I still have plenty of things I want to do with it... including interior walls :-)
