I'm a OP of a server. Our team used Ancient Gates to connect survival and creative worlds. Even those two worlds are restricted by forcing game-mode switch, some players were found that they are "spawning" items using the gate which is placed in the creative world side.
All they need to do just simply throwing items, like diamonds, through out the gate which is located on the creative world. The items will be automatically "transported" to the survival world just like teleporting players. Then the players will go back to the survival world side and pick up the souvenir. This means players can actually spawn items easily without any gamemode given in the survival world.
We have found that some play using this bug to get tones of items for free. There are some items that none of the OPs would happy to see, for example monster eggs and TNT.
This bug occurs in the v1.8.0.
This bug have created serious management issue for us. Right now we have nothing to do but stop using Ancient Gate as a teleporting mechanism.
We hope the bug fix in future could stop items to be transported through gates, at least providing a option to allow / disallow the transfer.
